Yup, 100% with you there. I think his Vegeta voice is nothing but a caricature at this point but damn, the guy really does care and is certainly a professional in any capacity I've seen him working in. Glad he's taken it upon himself to ensure these tapes see the light of day.
And, as many have said, should these tapes end up on a release that happens to be subpar in some way then fuck it, I'll still buy it. I have no qualms remuxing all that audio into my DBox. Heck, spent enough time doing that shit with Yamamoto Kai TV rips onto the 4:3 Blu-rays.

Is this audio just for DBZ or for DB too?

Are you planning on sending the betamax tapes or digital rips?

Can't wait to see how this pans out.

I guess now would be a good time to share something I did a few months ago
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ldk15 ... arison.rar the gohan_ssj2_betamax.flac file is Kei's original FLAC file as I originally got it from 4shared before it was removed which contains the audio glitch I mentioned in my last post, the gohan_ssj2_betamax fix.flac is my handiwork it's the same as Kei's file but with the audio glitch fixed, up till now I've held off on making this thing public because I didn't want to risk talking about it and getting Kei into trouble with Toei because I probably shouldn't have his file to begin with, however with the recent discussion about Chris Sabat possibly getting FUNimation to use the broadcast audio in an upcoming Blu-ray release of DBZ I decided that now would be an appropriate time to share it because I wanted to bring my concerns about FUNimation just slapping the audio onto the sets without removing any possible byproducts that can result from the digitization process into the discussion and offer an example to help illustrate my point.

If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Wow, hearing that scene with the broadcast audio...just wow.
Man, I so hope these tapes make it onto a release. To hear the series with that fidelity would just blow my mind.

Hopefully they'll make it onto the new Blu-rays, but if not them hopefully the next niche fan release will have them.

Fans have been asking Toei for years to take their recordings of the original broadcast audio and sync it up with the dragon box video and sell it back to them. They've basically been begging Toei to take their money and Toei could care less. It's nice to see someone who is officially affiliated with Dragon ball z show interest in listening to and using the original broadcast audio recordings.

Are you at least encoding the tapes onto a hard-drive or something so you can keep a copy for yourself? It would be a shame for Sabat to get the tapes and not be able to use it.

Kei17 is sending them to Christopher from Japan. Christopher said that he would like to capture the data even if he isn't allowed to use it so that the content is forever preserved. Then he will, upon request, send them back to Kei17. Otherwise they will stay in the FUNimation vaults.
I'm the one orchestrating this, but I am not handling the tapes. So to answer your question, it's up to Kei17 if he wants to capture it all beforehand, but I imagine with that many episodes it will take a long time and a lot of hard drives.

Does mr. Sabat know if Funimation will ever be able to use the audio.

I cannot imagine how difficult it is going to be for you to carry all of those tapes to the post office, Kei.

I'm not worried about Sabat, he's really awesome and he means well, I'm just worried that something might happen to the tapes on the way or FUNimation/TOEI will confiscate them.
I'm not suggesting illegal distribution by any means, but I think kei should consider keeping them in private storage on MediaFire or something so he can still have them if anything happens to the tapes.

I could be wrong but I believe that Kei17 has all of the audio from the original broadcast recordings already backed up losslessly on his computer.

At the current moment neither Mr. Sabat nor us know for sure if FUNimation will actually be able to use the audio, However this whole effort stands a much better chance of succeeding if we have someone that's highly involved with the series like Chris working with us since he has some influence when it comes to the DB franchise.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

The Japanese broadcast audio had a lot blips of sound effects during news events, I don't know if my tapes are from a delayed airing or not but I do remember news messages.
Were these only present during delayed, and local airings? Or just Fuji TV?
