It fits fine, but not perfectly. There are some minor inconsistencies with Trunks' appearance and the number of times he is said to time travel, but nothing worse than has already been seen in the manga and it is easier to work around than Kuririn not knowing Gohan or Goku having already teamed up with Piccolo.Hellspawn28 wrote:Movie 9 fits fine.

Biggest inconsistency is that Krillin, Bulma and Roshi learn about Gohan's existence, before their proper introduction to him.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Was there a problem with Movie 1? I always felt that could work as a prequel to DBZ, or a sort of "bridging of the gap" between DB and DBZ.

Another lesser one is Piccolo's training weights, which Goku didn't know about until the fight with Raditz.Redgohan147 wrote:Biggest inconsistency is that Krillin, Bulma and Roshi learn about Gohan's existence, before their proper introduction to him.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Was there a problem with Movie 1? Yeppers, pretty much established only Movies 9 and 13 work now. 13 can work now regardless of the strength issues (SSJ3 Goku > SSJ3 Gotenks and Mystic Gohan) due to Goku absorbing SSJG's power, though I forget if this takes place before or after BoG.

Logically, it takes place probably a year after the fight with Kid Buu. That leaves enough time for the Dragon Balls to recharge from last time to grant their wish to release Tapion.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Yeppers, pretty much established only Movies 9 and 13 work now. 13 can work now regardless of the strength issues (SSJ3 Goku > SSJ3 Gotenks and Mystic Gohan) due to Goku absorbing SSJG's power, though I forget if this takes place before or after BoG.
Son Goku and Friends + BoG would then take place sometime a year later.
I still consider Movie 8 semi-canon acceptable though.

RandomGuy96 wrote:It really doesn't. At least not if Movie 5 and 1 don't. This one has way more continuity errors than those two, like Gohan going Super Saiyan and Mr. Satan not knowing who Dende is.Obviously that Battle of Gods fit into the timeline, despite few inconsistencies here and there.
It isn't stated that Gohan can't go Super Saiyan, but fighting in it is probably worse than not.
Also Mr.Satan probably repressed his memories of the time on Kaio planet because he thought he was crazy or something.

Everything was close during the Cell Games which makes the first part of the DBZ Movie 8 impossible to happen. I don't think the semi-canon thing can work, not to mention that South Kai in the anime never talks about the South Galaxy destroyed once in the show. I doubt he was like "Oh my, the South Galaxy is destroyed. Oh well, I just won't talk about it and forget it never happen".

Broly is mentioned in Movie 12 if that counts for anything.

I bet with all the times this question has been asked, we probably could have some fan redubbing and editing done, where you could have all the movies working.

And again, I provide the explanation that Mr Satan's presence helped reign the world in a bit at least back to some form of normality. We explicitly see people in cities watching live coverage of the Cell Games when just before they had abandoned all of the cities.Hellspawn28 wrote:Everything was close during the Cell Games which makes the first part of the DBZ Movie 8 impossible to happen. Re: Movies That Could Work In The Canon Timeline.
Based entirely on timeline placement, BoG doesn't fit in the timeline. There are multiple time frame references in the movie that don't even fit with each other let alone the manga.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

I don't remember him ever being mention in Fusion Reborn. I think you mean Movie 11 which had King Kai asking Goku to travel to Hell to make sure Broli is not causing trouble.khalildh wrote:Hellspawn28 wrote:Everything was close during the Cell Games which makes the first part of the DBZ Movie 8 impossible to happen. Some of Paragus soldiers are seen in the movie albeit the color scheme is off.Hellspawn28 wrote:I don't remember him ever being mention in Fusion Reborn. Re: Movies That Could Work In The Canon Timeline.
I've been working on a project like this for some time. I call it "Dragonball Expanded". It's sort of the opposite of Kai. The object is to get as many episodes as possible with as much filler as you can fit in. I've been trying to do it with the english dub audio, but it isn't working out well. I'm afraid to get it right, I'm going to have to get some people to redub at least parts of it, if not the whole thing. Team 4 star would be awesome, but they're too busy with their own awesome projects.FoolsGil wrote:I bet with all the times this question has been asked, we probably could have some fan redubbing and editing done, where you could have all the movies working.
I'm cutting out the pats of the movies that don't fit, and editting the rest into the flow of the anime. I'm putting flashbacks that didn't happen in the actual anime, like Goku and Chi-Chi's first date, where they would go in the main story. I'm even tweaking a few fights to make them longer. It's really still in early stages, but it should be great when I finish. I'm thinking it'll be about 600-650 episodes long, if i use the same running length for each episode.
Trunks Special is told as a flashback during the episode where Future Trunkls kills Future Cell. Bardock Special is a flashback when Freeza breifly mentions Goku's father. I think I can get 3 episodes out of each.
The other movies will go in where I suggested earlier in the thread.
I'm considering even adding entirely new things, but then it wouldn't really be dragonball anymore. Still on the fence with this one.
Finally, even if i never get very far in this, I'd still like to try as foolsgil suggests and just edit a few of the almost fitting movies to get them right. 6 and 12 just need a bit of narration changed. Cut out the weights scene, and have krillin ask who the kid is and never get answered; then movie 1 works.
Lots of cool things you could do.
