Why do so many American fans hate Kai?

From all the clips I've heard (and also from playing Blasts Raging and Ultimate), Clinkenbeard's Gohan never stops sounding like her. I don't know about you but I've never met a young boy who sounded like a college girl. Boys voices are way more gravelly. Don't get me wrong, nobody's voice is as gravelly as Nadolny Gohan...

Ugh. The Japanese version of Kai is looking better and better.

Oh here we go. I'm about to erode all nerd-cred I may have, at one point had. Fair warning.

I love the Linda Young Freeza voice. It's weird and alien (no offense Mrs. Young...). I think it's kinda cool when villains(especially non-human ones) have creepy non-human voices. Why should an alien, and an alien with no clear gender, have a "normal dude" voice? That's probably why I also like the raspy creepy voices for Cell and Buu.

I've heard the Chris Ayres voice, and it's a classier performance to be sure. Still not "my thang" though.

To be honest, neither of them sound like an actual little boy....but then again, very few of the voices in the show sound like actual people.

What age did your voice start cracking? For me it was 10-12 so if anything that adds to the accuracy of the character's age.

I've always had a gravelly voice, regardless of pitch. Nadolny's Gohan probably gargled gravel with his bowl of nuts in the morning, but still. Makes more sense than shrieking collegiate hilarity.

Yeah, but everyone in that voice cast was terrible (though at least in a harmless and silly way). It doesn't seem fair to judge the "actual kid" approach based on that.

On topic--I honestly feel that all the attachment for Nadolny is pure nostalgia. I'm re-visiting DBZ's English dub, and...my goodness. Clinkenbeard is far and away the better voice actress and I find her much more believable than Nadolny (I find that her "boy voice" is actually more fitting for Gohan than it is for Luffy).

My little brother sounds similar to Ms.Collen Gohan and I never heard a college girl sound like that. Also many anime has young boys sound like female. Hell some sound way to deep. Xamd had a boy who was 10 and his voice was deeper than Kyle Herbert Gohan.

That would be Zachary Taylor. Another actor id like to see do Gohan. Seriously someone make a clip of Gohan with Aaron and Zach's voices in the mix.

Good kid voice actors are rare, but they do exist. I always thought Aaron Dismuke's performance as Alphonse Elric was very good.

Germany also used real kids for all of the kid roles in DB, DBZ, and DBGT. I'm unable to determine how good a job they did without speaking German, though.
