Probably in the minority here, but I really like the boxart. Hell, I'm tempted to get these for that reason alone.

Yeah, pretty much sums the show up right there.

I am pretty much inclined to agree, it looks like something an amateur Photoshop user could put together, by Googling for renders which don't even represent the original show's art direction, and throwing them together in a clutter on a somewhat relevant background (which happens to be the only thing I like).

I agree thatdbzguy I love the cover art but these people on this forum are the MOST NEGATIVE people, I've been reading and following this topic and at this point
they will find anything to complain about just to complain....

We wouldn't complain if they were in 4:3. :P

I know I definitely wouldn't. lol
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I think there have been plenty of people who have stated that like the cover art, I don't see an issue with not liking it. It's not that I'm negative, I just don't want to settle for something that I don't find aesthetically pleasing, I'm still happy that it's a 2013 Dragon Ball release.

Probably :P But I'd likely still swap the covers for something custom, I'm just not a fan of the cover art.

I love the cover art and disc art as well but....the complaints that are being brought up here are more than justified. A show let it be Dragonball or not, shouldn't be treated the way it has been. I've never known of 1 other release that Funimation has released that has been cropped 16x9 or has been given the ''Remastering'' that Dragonball has been given. So why do it?

No, if there's something legitimately fucking stupid like the content on these discs as well the amateur looking cover art, then yes, we'll have our say.

This. I don't have a problem with the connecting picture, but FUNimation couldn't get an on-model artist to save their lives.

Oh my gawd! This looks effin epic!

I'm definitely buying if the picture quality is also fantastic and also if it's Region B compatible (probably is, considering most FUNi DB Blu-rays are).

And if as such, I'm gonna get rid of the Dragon Boxes.

I sense a disturbance in the force.

But seriously if you people are going to get this for the cover art you're better off saving money by just printing it out.Or better yet giving your money to people who would put it to better use.

That's my biggest problem with it. Its nothing like what its actually in the show. I actually like the art of the cover, but since its not really representative of the show, what's the point?

It doesn't work that way too, though.

Exactly. Some characters look very off-model and their bodies are poorly drawn. Also I hate how the characters are so randomly placed and awkwardly posed.

It's actually the problem on Toei's side, though. Toei has been providing overseas right holders with terrible artworks drawn by this artist. Cross-eyed Vegeta in the Orange Brick Season 1's cover was done by the same artist, too.

I was going to post a question on the main site for Funimation on the Blu-ray news article but apparently I'm not logged in. I tried other news articles and I can leave a comment on them but not the Blu-ray one.

I'll just leave my question here.

Is there any possibility that these releases will include the AB Groupe English dub (AKA Westwood Ocean dub), when it gets to that point in the series, as an additional audio track?
How did the Rock the Dragon Edition set do in sales?

I agree with you guys, the cover art is just terrible. Doesn't look DBZ to me, I like DragonBall with and older feel.

You're not alone. I have felt that way too. Even though I have decided that I wasn't going to buy them after seeing the boxart I felt very tempted to want to buy them.

DB Kai had bland white covers, same for the DBZ Levels and the Orange Bricks.

For once FUNimation is doing something different and yet people complain. I really like them too and that's what matters to me.

I don't think people are complaining about it being different - I for one like the "style." But the little things like the eyes not meeting other character's eyes when they are engaged make it appear like a bunch of toys being drawn out on the cover - things like these make the scene appear emotionless. The intensity of the scene is then diminished.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
