DBZ Blu-ray Seasons = Dragon Box prices decrease?

Post by dbboxkaifan » Fri Nov 08, 2013 3:20 pm

In terms of proper English quality releases of DBZ there's just Dragon Box which is complete, DBZ Level unfortunately cancelled and now DBZ Seasons so let's say that the quality of the DBZ Seasons are expectedly amazing do you think Dragon Box 2's ridiculous price is going to drop?

DBZ Seasons on Blu-ray take less space on the shelf, are on Blu-ray and if the quality's Level-like then I can finally say goodbye to the Dragon Boxes Z. Sure I'll kinda miss the NEPS and Japanese text but I got used to the English text on the Kai Blu-rays.

This reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess the GameCube version (low print) is still quite pricey (as much as a new game or so) whereas the Wii version can be acquired for pretty damn cheap. So I suppose there's a maybe in all of this.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

No, I'm sure Toei were the ones deciding to make limited prints of the Dragonboxes.

I doubt it, at least not significantly. Thanks to FUNimation's idiotic decisions regarding DBZ, the Dragon Boxes will still be the only quality way to own the series. So the Blu-rays aren't going to be doing much to chip away at demand for people who want the Dragon Boxes because they aren't going to be filling the same void.

Yoo! Just checked online and I didn't kno DBox's were that much?!? Dayum.
I'm guessing they weren't this much when first released? If not, how much were they? Just curious.

When the Dragon Boxes first came out they were about $30-$40 each.

I find it scary that DBox 2 is £840 on Amazon. For that price, you could get the entire JP DBox set at its original RRP.

I think that the prices for DBox 2 would've dropped if the Level sets weren't discontinued, because there'd finally be an alternative 4:3 uncut release of these early Freeza saga episodes. And since these new season sets will be cropped, the market for the second box will still be there (although I really don't want to believe that someone would pay more than $300 for a single box).

The Dragon Boxes were aimed at the collector's audience that are well aware of the shenanigans Funimation pulled with the Orange Bricks. I do not see how the proliferation of more shenanigan filled releases will cause prices to lower. If anything, I'd expect prices to rise as the other boxes become more scarce.

Bingo. They'll go up. The more crappy releases Funimation puts out the better those Dragon Boxes are going to look.

But I guess that depends on whether or not people will acknowledge that the new release sucks.

Continuation of the Level sets, or just good Blu-ray release maybe; but I imagine the only real way secondary market value on Dragon Box releases come back down is if FUNimation re-print the Dragon Box releases. And certainly not with these Blu-ray seasons.

I wonder if these fail anyone thinks they will do a Dragonbox Singles for Blu-Ray it would make sense use the extra disc space for the extra audio track Faulconer as well as some extras maybe use the same art as the Japanese Releases sell them at $10-$15 MSRP 48 total about $480-$600 would make sense release 4 volumes every 3 months take three years to complete id be all for it!!!

If anything, the prices will just get higher since they're getting harder and harder to get.

I wish I would have jumped on the chance to collect the Dragon Boxes when I had to the chance instead of getting the Orange Bricks, but sadly I missed my opportunity. :(
