Dragon Ball Themed Wedding Cakes
Dragon Ball Themed Wedding Cakes
I'm getting married in August and wanted some ideas for a Dragon Ball themed Groom's cake. My fiancé and I are pretty set on a cake that looks like Kaio Sama's planet made of carrot cake (for the Kakarot carrot pun and it kinda has a dirt color look to it lol oh and we both like the flavor)...anyways if anyone has any other reasonable suggestions please share or even better yet post some pictures
!!

I would love to draw some concepts of a DB related wedding cake, if that's all right? I have some ideas but there would be better to show it visually than describe it.

Absolutely!! Thank you I'm super excited to see them whenever you're able to postScarz wrote:I would love to draw some concepts of a DB related wedding cake, if that's all right? I have some ideas but there would be better to show it visually than describe it.

Re: Dragon Ball Themed Wedding Cakes
I don't really have any ideas to add at the moment (other than either little custom figures or icing-drawn faces or something of the inhabitants of Kaio's planet perhaps?), but I did want to drop in and say that this is a really neat idea, and to congratulate you and yours on the upcoming wedding! ^_^

Yeah I thought bout using a Goku and chi chi figurine I saw on eBay but couldn't think of a good style for the cake itself so I then thought of Kaios planet. Which is def cool but I'm not wedded to that idea (ha pun!)

Re: Dragon Ball Themed Wedding Cakes
Alright, let me just say this first: I went completely overboard with this (never gonna happen) wedding cake. The girly-girl inside of me jumped out when I was coming up with all these ideas for a perfect DB related wedding cake. I don't believe anyone would actually use this to base a cake off of. It's a little too elaborate and probably costly to make anyway.

I was actually going to stop here at this rough sketch and describe the concept of the cake in detail. But I just had to go further because, you know... I'm nuts. XD

The bg for the bottom and middle layers can be airbrushed on or made entirely with icing. From personal experience, it's easier just to get a professional airbrush artist/baker to paint in the background over a white thick layer of icing.
I also thought it would be pretty neat if there was 7 DB shaped cakeballs placed randomly on the cake. There's a neat video on how to make them here.

Now, this is my favorite part, the wedding toppers! I thought the red traditional Chinese outfit for Chichi and the black suit w/red tie for Goku fits the color for the cake well. But these chibi concepts of GokuxChichi are completely from my own head and there's no actually figures of these. I think it's possible to get custom made wedding toppers but I have no clue how much that would cost. The best bet is to go with the white wedding attire Goku and Chichi figures.

And finally, a very quick color concept of the cake. Heh... once I look back on it, it's probably too colorful compared to the standard wedding cakes.
Again, I know I went waaaaaaay to far here but this was really fun just to play around with. I don't believe this would actually happen but a girl can dream, can't she?

Re: Dragon Ball Themed Wedding Cakes
That is INCREDIBLE! I love the coloring choices you made and the designs you chose encapsulate the story really well especially at each level. That design would prob be quite steep in price especially for my lil ole groom's cake but I absolutely love what you came up with! You've certainly got a very creative eye.

SCARZ!? Why are you not using Kaio (and maybe Bubbles) on his own planet? Toss one of the many mini gashapons on there to have him in the background as the minster. Not traditional...but this is Dragon Ball.

If you provided the pictures in greater resolution (or if Kakarot88 found some other background drawing he liked), they could be simply printed using edible print technology. It comes out pretty well (here's an example - my own wedding cakes that came out just as the mock-ups we did in Photoshop) and isn't that expensive.Scarz wrote: The bg for the bottom and middle layers can be airbrushed on or made entirely with icing. Re: Dragon Ball Themed Wedding Cakes
Well so far what we (or should I say the chef) thought about doing was just a round cake (well spherical like using a soccer ball mold) and making the planet that way kinda like a Globe which sounds really cool to me but I liked Starz's input with having maybe chichi and goku up top. The idea really came to us cuz our exit car is a classic red chevy which looks like Kaio Sama's so I was tangentially connecting the two.Tzigi wrote:If you provided the pictures in greater resolution (or if Kakarot88 found some other background drawing he liked), they could be simply printed using edible print technology. The one thing is they said they'd prob use "fundant" and that may not taste as good to ppl...

Holy crap that's amazing Scarz. You really did put a lot of thought into this. That's definitely getting saved into my pictures folder.
I'd almost contemplate doing something like this too, since it's DBZ that brought me and my girlfriend together back in the day...but I think we've already joked about having Transformers toppers since her love of Transformers is beyond any fandom of mine.

I'm glad my DB wedding cake design is being received so well! I would use it myself but I have no plans on getting married...ever.
That's actually a very cool idea to add mini gashapon figures on the cake. You can add the main cast at the bottom, Freeza and his henchmen (plus the Ginyu Force) in the middle, and Kaio Sama and Bubbles on the top. It would be overkill, but hell, I'd do it.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:SCARZ!? Why are you not using Kaio (and maybe Bubbles) on his own planet? If there was an awesome bakery in NYC that specializes in making elaborate cakes like Charm City Cakes, I'll probably try to get them to make this (if I had the money).dbzfan7 wrote:I'm dead serious...someone please send that design to Ace of Cakes..I want that cake made.
