Never was I so pumped for anything in my adolescent life until hearing Masako roaring on American TV, with Kikuchi's score booming, while narrated by Mr. Spike Spiegel himself.

Personally I prefer the first version narrated by the late great Don LaFontaine. But that's me. Still it was great. What was said during that Japanese, by the way?Appūru-sama wrote:Easily this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwEED29e27Y

The one starting at around 0:40 there is what I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. That was the first time I saw a Super Saiyan.90sDBZ wrote: And these ones from way back when it aired on Cartoon Network UK.

Those were great. Heck, the ones for the others during that Toonami movies time were too. And while I don't recall the ones for Mask of the Phantasm or Sub Zero, the one for Johnny Quest vs the Cyber-Insects made it look better than it actually was. (Saw that movie years later. It was lame).Appūru-sama wrote:You're totally right! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txYZMp6Nq2MSuper Sonic wrote:Personally I prefer the first version narrated by the late great Don LaFontaine. This video has the commercial for Final Bout that I saw over a decade at a old collector's shop. This brings back good memories since I remember I wanted this game so badly.

You quoting that makes me want to see if anyone ever made a vid of the Buu saga to the Dark Knight trailer with that Harvey Dent speech, or to the end of the Transformers movie with The Touch playing and Goku powering up to Rodimus' "Light our darkest hour" line.Rocketman wrote:Sometimes, it's darkest just before dawn.

I have some Toonami DBZ stuff on my Flickr if anyone is interested. http://www.flickr.com/photos/65846913@N ... 408930969/
It's funny how at the time I wasn't that into the English aspect of the show, but looking back, that whole time frame seems nostalgic to me now.

Oh man! I loved this trailer from Toonami. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwjDU5oX0ns
Just watching it makes me want Dragonball again.

Having grown up without Cartoon Network, none of the Toonami ads are nostalgic for me. But what is nostalgic for me, "What if Dragon Ball Z was an Opera?": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRYJoosuYag
And that is a pretty good look at YTV's sense of humour in the late 90's/early 2000's.

Oh My God this video. At 52 seconds this advert has been in my head for so many years. I'd long since lost the VHS with that advert on but something about it was incredibly awesome to me. Sure now I realise how corny and out of character Gokus speech was but it's was awesome at the time for me90sDBZ wrote: And these ones from way back when it aired on Cartoon Network UK.

The Toonami trailers from the early 00's, especially the ones narrated by Optimus Prime/Peter Cullen, somehow manage to elicit the same chills they did for me as when I was 12.

In general, those promos were just edited really damn well to give just a completely bad ass and epic feel.

Ah, it is nice to see another person who grew up watching the series on ytv here in Canada! I love those videos, they really show how wacky and weird ytv was back then. It was magical growing up with all of my old favourite anime on that wonderful little station; I owe my love of anime almost entirely to the anime series that were shown on ytv back then, specifically DBZ, Gundam Wing, Pokemon, and Escaflowne, all of which remain favourites to this day!
As for the topic pretty much all of the ads shared thus far make me feel nostalgic, even the ones that I didn't grow up seeing. I am surprised that no one has brought up this one yet though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgVbTLWslNQ
Brings back lots of fun memories of begging my mother to take me to Burger King every night!

Man those were good times. Not a care in the world, etc. Now I know the world's a terrible place and I'm all depressed and crap.I could go on a whole huge discussion about my nostalgia in relation with Dragon Ball, but I'll save that for another time.

Re: Most Nostalgic DB Ads, Trailers, etc.
I remember two distinct ads. One was for DBZ with Buu saying "I'm getting very angry with you, and for me that is a very bad thing." Another was for Dragon Ball which said something like "Up next, it's your favorite heroes, only smaller. Get ready for Dragon Ball. On toonami." I think the first one was from the "Best of Buu". I don't know what the other one is from.
