Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Just ordered my copy of the Hong Kong DVD of Battle of Gods. Wasn't enough for free shipping, they wanted £6 to ship it to the UK, so I just bought Dragon Ball SD as well!

Also noticed that they changed the synopsis for Battle of Gods, not sure if it means anything, it could show what names they'll be using or it's probably just someone trying to correctly translate it. See? Goku was changed to Sun Goku, Bils was changed to Birus.

Since Eva 3.0 is going to be release in select theaters then we can hope BOG will soon in the next year or two.

I think it's funny how 3.0 did so much bettter than BoG in the Japanese Box Office, but here in the US it would be the opposite (Then again, if I had to choose between seeing a new DB movie and 4.0....I'd probably see 4.0).

DBZ is more well known in the US, so it will likely do better since there might be more marketing to it (which won't be saying a whole lot). I think the Eva movies in Japan do better because they have a lot of hype and they have a lot of good word of mouth. It seems like Eva always goes for the art house audience since I remember a lot of film snobs loved NGE but hated mainstream anime shows and movies.

Going a little off topic here, but if that was your problem with the original, I'd watch the New films if you haven't seen them. They're a lot easier to grasp (Although a lot of the fun I have with the original series is how it's not all out there to understand. I feel like learn something new each time I rewatch ). The films are also very aesthetically pleasing to watch.

Oh man I'd completely forgot about the manga. That's great as well.

Also "The Raising Shinji Ikari Project" and "Angelic days" are two of my biggest guilty pleasures. "Ikari Project" is 98% fanservice but for some reason I can't stop buying the volumes when they come out. =p

Because the other DBZ movies were made when DBZ was still on the air with new episodes and the manga was still being written. By the time when Movie 13 came out, AT was done with the manga. I'm not believing this info until we get more official info to back it up. The image could be totally photoshop.

You'd think with the money they made from this movie, we'd get a proper remake of DBZ, or even Dragon Ball, or a new home release for DB/DBZ (from Toei themselves may I add) that isn't either cancelled, rare/expensive, or complete horseshit. Unless I'm overlooking things and doing all of the above is a really uneasy process?

Kai was a proper remake. It remove nearly all of the filler and give us a good dub for once.
