Re: NEW DBZ Series?!

The filler in DB is nowhere as bad as the one in DBZ. DBZ had pointless filler like Goku falling off from Snake Way, the Garlic Jr saga and Maron. If we are getting a new series then I would imagine that we will see a trademark from the Japan Patent Office by now. I'm 95% sure that this info is likely fake.

I don't think you know what a remake is. Kai was, at best, a sort of sloppy director's cut edition of DBZ.

I'm pretty sure if this were true, TOEI would be the first to announce it, not a Spanish voice actor for the series.

There was enough to make it drag (I consider a "drag" being enough to make me think about turning it off and crawling into bed, which I experienced). I wouldn't mind a "DB" DB Kai. All that old 80s-ness could likely benefit from an update.

But yeah, I have no doubt of the validity of this announcement, which is that there isn't any. How would some voice actor in Mexico be the first to break the news of a new DBZ series?

I know what a remake is. Remakes are view as something that tells the same story with minor changes. Kai can be view as a remake since it's a new version of the same story. Kinda like how the 1998 remake of Psycho was.

I call shenanigans. Nothing has been even so much as whispered about a new series in Japan, and there's no way it'd get announced, or even leaked, overseas first. That, and it adheres much too closely to the unsubstantiated rumors that have been flying around since before the movie came out.

So the Spanish VA confirmed a series before Toei or a Jpn voice actor did? Db isn't unpopular. Pretty sure this a joke

It's possible TOEI has plans to do a new series and has made this known to companies that have licensed Dragon Ball internationally, but I imagine if that's the case, they weren't supposed to say anything about it to the public, and someone is gonna get a serious spanking for doing so.

A good rule of thumb for the Internet is to not believe anything written in bolded Impact font.

I wouldn't mind if it did cancel it out. They could have Bills wake up from his nap and explain to Whis that he had a dream about Goku being turned into a child and sacrificing himself after fighting evil dragons, and Whis would laugh and remind him how inaccurate his dreams are, like the one he had about an idol coming to live with them. But it wouldn't necessarily have to cancel out GT, there is plenty of room between Z and GT for a new series.

Has anyone even bought this magazine? I would like to see someone post a full scan of the issue to back things up. I'm pretty sure this fake rumor is going to have fans believe that this is legit.

Even if the magazine is real, I don't think we should be getting our hopes up for a new series until we hear something directly from TOEI or Jump.

I feel like a lot of false rumors come out of the Spanish Dragon Ball community.

You're right, that's where Dragon Ball AF and Hoshi originated.

Most people don't like GT. Just pull off a Prometheus (which ignore the AVP films) and recton it from the main timeline. GT didn't do that great critically and financially. In the eyes of a TV producer, they won't waste time making a follow up to it. It would be like making a sequel to The Last Airbender or Godzilla 1998.

Then why are they "wasting their time" and promote it so much nowadays through Dragon Ball Heroes?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
