BoG: Goku's Pride [Goku Voice Test]

This is a test to see if my voice works on Goku. Probably not, but was still fun to do. Especially with the dialouge, since I speak nothing like Goku. I tend to be more eloquent when I speak. But, I adapted the quirk from the Japanese version of the slight hick-ish type of speaking here, since it usually gets ignored. I tried keeping a tone like Nozawa's, but my voice is deeper. This is a little higher than my natural voice. But, yeah. I edited out Roshi and Piccolo speaking since I couldn't find decent voices to give them that aren't just FUNimation impressions.

Voices:
Goku and Beerus: SSJ4 Furanki

You're right about your voice not being quite right for Goku, but your delivery is spot-on. That little touch of hick works great, and you've got the light-heartedness down. You've come a long way from when you first started doing fandubs and I'm definitely impressed.

I personally think your take on Beerus is too deep and raspy for the role, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get a similar take for the dub. Only time will tell.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Thanks! At least I know what I'm doing delivery wise! Haha, perhaps if I tweak the pitch a bit more it could legitimately work. Yeah, Beerus is my Ryuk impression, if I slightly pitch it up and tone down the rasp (just kinda used to the rasp from where the voice originated) it could work. It's worked a bit better in other scenes I've dubbed, but it was kinda flat here. But the main focus was Goku, so I'm okay with that. So far my voice seems (but smoothed out tone) seems to work on Whis and my natural voice straight tone seems to work on 17. Alright with Freeza when I do a tone similar to Ayres Freeza. Odd how my voice works for the 'pretty boy' characters.

I agree with you about how much better I managed to get from when I started, if I listened to a dub I did back then, I'd probably be like 'Oh god, no...'

Really cool man, The voices really are set apart from each other :)
There's room for only one snake, and one big boss.

Thanks! Part of it though is how I did the script adaptation. They speak different, not as drastic as how Goku speaks compared to Freeza though, haha! It helps that both of these are comfortable natural voices for me. Goku's may need minor pitch tweaking. Beerus' though, may need tweaking based on what I explained in reply to Bkev's thoughts.
