Well for Chi-Chi saying 'Goku-sa', I would personally adapt it as something like Goku, hon' or Goku, honey or something along those lines. I have to agree with Hellspawn28.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:And I disagree. How does "Goku-sa" translates in English?Hellspawn28 wrote:Ugh, those subs look pretty bad. Fedex just delivered the HK Blu-ray this morning, what a nice surprise! I finally get to see BoG tonight.
Glad the subtitles seem to be decent.

God I feel so embarrassed for not knowing this.
I just found out a bit ago(From a friend) that the Jump Special is included in the Dragonball Z Battle of Gods limited edition box set on the special disk. Is this information true?
If it is I swear It's going to make me feel awful for not knowing this. haha
Edit - Also if that's correct ^ then this release has that special correct? http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Blu-ray-Sp ... roduct_top

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I got a "your order has been shipped" email from Play-Asia the other day, but opted for the free, non-trackable shipping when I placed the order, so we'll see.

I also noticed that you guys translated the Akira Toriyama Message! I will make a copy of that and stick it in the box when I order it. I really am sorry. I should have searched instead of asking.

What does Beerus' and Whis' voices sound like in the Cantonese dub? Also, what did the dub call Beerus?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I'll have to receive the disc before I can tell you what they sound like.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:What does Beerus' and Whis' voices sound like in the Cantonese dub? Also, what did the dub call Beerus?
But I've been told that Beerus was known as "比魯斯“ (phonetically, it should sound like "bay-lo-si".)
I do wonder though, if they got the TVB DBKai voice cast to reprise their roles for the movie dub. Cantonese DBKai Vegeta sounded horrible! Everyone else was fine. But if they don't use TVB's actors, I'm pretty sure there will be a seperate Cantonese dub meant for airing on TVB. (Just as there has been for all the other DBZ movies)

Will be looking forward to that! Wow, Vegeta was miscast then? Seems odd that there'd be entirely different casts based on where it's airing. But, that seems to be an outside of the US type of dubbing practice. So, doesn't seem too off. 比魯斯 seems to make sense as well pronunciation wise based on the Kana to Han differences of pronunciation.tinlunlau wrote:I'll have to receive the disc before I can tell you what they sound like.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:What does Beerus' and Whis' voices sound like in the Cantonese dub? Yeah, but TVB is not involved with the home video release of "BoG" so I wouldn't be surprised if the licensee of the movie got an entirely different cast of voice actors. Sometimes they keep some of the TVB actors to reprise their roles. Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) is an example. Edward Elric's VA had the same voice in both TVB dub and home video dub while everyone had replacements. The old Aiko Cantonese dub of DBGT is not the same dub aired on TVB either from what I recall. Fact is, TVB charges a lot of money for home video distributors to license their dubs so the distros have no other choice but to produce their own dub.SSJ4 Furanki wrote: Will be looking forward to that! That's unfortunate. I understand wanting to make money, but seems like it gives the shaft to fans of the TV cast. Then again it sounds about as concoluted as the English side of dubs (for Dragon Ball at least). Did other shows like Death Note have differening dubs? As I recall, the Cantonese dub was the only one to dub The World.tinlunlau wrote:Yeah, but TVB is not involved with the home video release of "BoG" so I wouldn't be surprised if the licensee of the movie got an entirely different cast of voice actors. If I'm not mistaken, it has something to do with the many different dialects from around the country being so different. If I remember correctly, many live action Chinese dramas are also dubbed over for this reason. It probably also has to do with the fact that the actors themselves may speak these different dialects which necessitates the dubbing for consistency. An example of this can be seen with the tokusatsu inspired show, "Armor Hero." Different dialects can really complicate things, can't they?SSJ4 Furanki wrote:Will be looking forward to that! Actually, I heard the Hong Kong home video release of "Death Note" (anime) retained the TVB dub. Same goes for "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood". HK home video release of "Dragon Ball Z" had the TVB dub and from what I've heard, it is cut. But not by much as there have been very few cuts in the Hong Kong airings. DBZ: BoG is at least, going to be uncut sans Japanese versions of "Cha La Head Cha La" and "Hero - Kibou no Uta" which is going to be in Engrish.
