Dreams about DB series?

Post by Polyphase Avatron » Fri Nov 29, 2013 11:15 am

Have you ever had any Dragonball - related dreams before?

I had one just last night. It concerned a sequel to Battle of Gods, I was watching the hype information about it. It involved a new villain called "Horza" who was some kind of really ugly-looking female alien, and on the way to Earth she destroyed Jupiter and its moons. People were telling me that the ending of the movie was very dark and depressing. But I thought it couldn't be that bad. I somehow skipped to the end, where it was implied Horza had been defeated, and then saw which characters had died (represented by gravestones in the dream). I first saw that Goku was dead at the end of it.

I thought, "Okay, that's not so bad, he's been dead before." Then I saw more of the gravestones, showing that Gohan was also dead, as well as Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Kibitoshin, Bulma, Chichi, Puar, Oolong, 17, 18, Mr. Buu, Master Roshi, Videl, Pan, Yamcha, Karin, etc. Basically the only characters who weren't dead were Goten and Trunks, Old Kai, Bills and Whis (who had helped defeat Horza), Tien, Chaotzu, Mr. Satan (he seems to always survive somehow), King Kai, and Bulma's parents. However the creepiest thing was that Dende also had a gravestone, but unlike the others he hadn't been killed by Horza, instead after the fighting was over he had tried to wish back everyone who died but was unable to for some reason, so he committed suicide.

Y'know, as obsessed with the series as I was from the time I was about ten, I can honestly say I don't think I've ever had a Dragon Ball dream.... it seems bizarre to me. I feel like I should've had one by now.
I was Thanos before the MCU existed!

Well I wish I could have dreamed about something other than Dende's suicide... kind of disturbing.

I literally dream every night and they are always very vivid and lucid. I've had dreams that were in manga panels, Goku vs. Freeza comes to mind, and a few other random occurrences as well. Basically the manga I own and would read regularly, Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Bleach, I would sometimes dream about lol. I'll have strange dreams of different scenarios and interactions involving theses characters and their worlds. These days not so much, but a few years back when I was reading them more.

Its similar to when I used to play Age of Empires 3 all day long, that night I would usually dream of playing the game. I wouldn't see my arms or the actual computer, just the screen. Weird, lol.

A long, long time ago, I had two dreams involving Buu Arc Piccolo, where I interacted with him and we had some adventures of sorts. It has been too long for me to remember the exact contents, though.
Mind, you, Piccolo has consistently been my favorite character since I started reading the manga (which quite fittingly was volume 17 - the one where Goku and Piccolo fought Radditz).

I had dreams of being a Super Saiyan...I remember one where I was a Super Saiyan and I couldn't really fly well. In one dream I was with a bunch of nintendo characters, and I may have held the Nyoibo. The pole I held looked similar.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I dreamed about Dragonball Online as if I myself was the character. Was awesome. I met Goten. What's funny is that I woke up when I died.....by another player that resembles Pac man for some reason............

I had one where I was remembering that scene from that one Family Guy episode that was the Poltergeist parody. Peter ripped off his skin and revealed himself to be Hank Hill. Then Hank Hill for some reason ripped off his skin and revealed himself as Broly. Then Broly started laughing. Then I woke up.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I've only had one that I can recall and it was sort of a crossover type of dream where Goku, Vegeta and Gohan saved the Titanic. Goku fired the Kamehameha Wave into the Titanic and got rid of all the water, Vegeta sealed up the hole and Gohan carried the ship for the remainder of the journey. Weird I know, but it is the only Dragon Ball Z related dreams that I've had that I can remember.

I've had several odd dreams with Dragonball-related stuff or sometimes actual DB/Z characters showing up before...

*digs through text files in "weird dreams" folder on the computer...*

There was one from over a year ago where some guy who was apparently supposed to be Thanos from Marvel(?) comics, except that he was blind and stumbling around, was trying to convince people to find the Dragonballs for him. Except the Dragonballs were much smaller than usual, there seemed to be more than seven of them, and each of them gave you some kind of superpower just by carrying it around (in addition to granting wishes if you got all of them), but only if you put them in your pants pockets (putting them in a shirt pocket or carrying them in your hands didn't give you any powers.) Some of them were pretty basic stuff--I remember eternal life and regeneration being among them--but there was also "mass cyborgification," which would apparently turn everyone within a certain radius into Android 17/18-style cyborgs. In the dream, this was apparently an explanation for how Cell got so strong just by eating a bunch of random humans--someone had used this Dragonball's power in one of those towns he emptied out, so it was actually a town full of weaker cyborgs rather than ordinary humans. After finding a bunch of these, I left Thanos stumbling around blindly instead of giving them to him, and went off somewhere else instead, where I found Androids 17 and 18. Apparently all the different powers from the Dragonballs I had found made me somewhere around #16's level of power, because I ended up fighting 17 and 18 and when #17 tried to punch me, I blocked it with one hand and could barely even feel it. Instead of actually counterattacking, though, I ran over to #17 and just picked him up, ran around carrying him for a while, and then threw him down somewhere.

There was also another one (around two years ago) where Goku and Gohan (around Cell saga time period going by their appearance) were in a classroom somewhere and Goku was apparently trying to teach Gohan how to use the Spirit Bomb. Goku charged up a tiny little Spirit Bomb (about the size of a cookie), then split it in half and passed the half to Gohan so he could practice holding it and then launching it at something.

Finally, one I had way back around 2010. Several DBZ characters were wandering around in this little town near where I live, looking like RPG-style walking-around-on-a-map sprites. I know that Piccolo, Mr. Popo, and probably Goku were all there but I can't remember who the fourth member of the group was. Piccolo was wearing "normal human" clothes at first (with a hat), then went into my house and changed back into his usual clothes (though he apparently had considered changing into the "Demon King" outfit first before someone else told him that wasn't a good idea.)

That was mean, he probably just wanted to wish for his sight back, lol.

While I've been watching & loving Dragon Ball since as far I remember myself, I don't remember having any dream. However, my brother had a nightmare with 1st Form Cell going around and absorbing people.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
