I don't know if this counts, but I know the popular vlogger, Philly D, has mentioned Dragon Ball a couple of times on his show.

MF DOOM sampled the Japanese version of DBZ during the Android Saga, for the song "Mullien".

You know, I always liked how Akira Toriyama was a fan of Jackie Chun and practically inserted some of his influence into the story, and in turn, Jackie Chun became a fan of Toriyama's own series, Dragon Ball.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Jackie Chan!
You know, I always thought it'd be cool if, if they made another DB live-action film, they cast Jackie Chan in the role of Muten Roushi. Jackie Chan as Jackie Chun!

I don't know for sure, that's the claim that's out there.

Snoop Lion is a fan. Here's his response to a DBZ question on Reddit. Bo Burnham is as well. Edit: His response to a DBZ-esque question on Reddit.

I'm a fan.
...yeah let that sink in for a second.
But in all complete seriousness, I remember watching an interview way back when I was a kid with Daniel Radcliffe in which he said that one of his favorite animated characters of all time was Goku.

B.o.B., Lupe Fiasco, Lil B I know for sure are DBZ fans.. Perhaps Kanye West too. I know he's an anime fan at least. He loves Akira, so I assume he probably likes DBZ too.
There's probably a lot of non-rapper fans out there too, but I imagine it's just easier to make small shout-outs or references to shows or characters in rap because, well, it's rap. Whereas in say, pop or rock it's more about singing, so it makes it harder to make references. At least that's my theory of why there seems to be more rapper fans than other genres. Rappers can say things on their rhymes without straying too much from the main song if that makes sense.

There's also Shingo Katori of SMAP, for people who are big in Japan.
(And if you want to play Six Degrees, it's worth noting that he played the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the 2006 TV adaptation of Journey to the West, and that the singer of the third ending for GT is married to fellow SMAP member Takuya Kimura.)

I bet most of the American celebrities that like it are English dub-only fans.

Don't know if this counts, but Travis Willingham who is currently voicing the Mighty Thor in current Marvel cartoons such as Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man was a fan in his youth.

So? People in the 'hood can't read subtitles?Super Sonic wrote:You are aware many of those guys are from the hood, right?penguintruth wrote:I bet most of the American celebrities that like it are English dub-only fans.

It's not that. It's that a lot of brothas will yell "ENGLISH MOTHERF*$%ER!" at you if you try to put subs and something in another language.penguintruth wrote:So? Re: Are there any celebrities that like Dragon Ball/Z/GT?
I don't approve of that claim. Not to say that that's for the most part true, I know a lot of the ignorant crowd, but I also know a bunch of people from "the hood" that are aware that DBZ is from Japan and know of the original version... like myself. I know at least three people who started with old VHS fansubs.Super Sonic wrote:You are aware many of those guys are from the hood, right?penguintruth wrote:I bet most of the American celebrities that like it are English dub-only fans.
