Chris Sabat at the upcoming MEFCC 2014 (Interview is up)

Post by SHINOBI-03 » Mon Dec 02, 2013 9:52 am

Hello guys, I'm sorry for not showing up here for such a long time and I can't apologize enough to you all... you can welcome or punish me later, but I came back here to bring you this special announcement:

Middle East Film & Comic Con, the recent most popular media event in the United Arab Emirates and Arabia is coming back again for the year 2014. And among the guest calls they've made, we got none other than your favorite Christopher Sabat! Yes, the American voice actor, ADR director, and line producer at FUNimation is coming to my city along with others like Seth Green and Sylvester McCoy and many others will be announced soon.
Christopher Sabat

We bring you the voice of Vegeta, Piccolo from Dragon Ball AND Roronoa Zoro from One Piece!
Christopher Sabat is an American voice actor, ADR director, and line producer at Funimation/OkraTron 5000 who provided voices for a number of English versions of Japanese anime series, and video games.

He is best known for his voice work in as various and each characters including Vegeta and Piccolo in Dragon Ball franchise. He has also voiced such characters as Kazuma Kuwabara in Yu Yu Hakusho, Ayame Sohma in Fruits Basket, Kikuchiyo in Samurai 7.

Another of his major roles was the voice of Roronoa Zoro in Funimation’s re-dubbing of One Piece.

He is usually cast in roles which involves him playing a very strong man or very gruff, tough characters and in 2011, he won the Behind the Voice Actors People’s Choice award for Best Actor in A Leading Role in AnimeB as Vegeta in”Dragon Ball Z Kai” (2009).

Well, since I'm like unofficial Dragon Ball ambassador for this region, then of course it'll be my duty to record his panel and share it with you. And if you want me to, I can give him your questions to respond to. Until then, I'll keep my eye on any updates and inform you whenever it's possible to me. With that out, let's all meet up at April 3th-5th, 2014.

I've got a few questions I'm hoping you could ask, in this order of priority, if you're willing...

1) He wrote the script for Movie 7 and Budokai 3 right? If so, ask him how he came to have that job, what that was like, and why he made some of the decisions he did (keeping Goku's "I want to show Vegeta mercy because that's the right thing rather than what I want", keeping almost all of the "I'm the hope of the universe" speech, except for the very end where Goku says he's a Super Saiyan rather than "Ally to Good, Nightmare to you!", and various other dub lines like that. I thought he did a wonderful job on the script, and would like to know his thought process behind it all).

2) Favorite dubisms?

3) What did he think of Bruce Faulconer's music, just from what he watched of the show with it (maybe ask him what exactly he saw with it as well).

4) Ask him about his creative decision in regards to giving King Piccolo a regular Piccolo Jr. voice rather than his ultra gravelly voice (I'm not talking about his old Piccolo Jr. voice, I'm talking about the King Piccolo voice that was even MORE gravelly than that!). I thought that was a good way of distinguishing between the characters.

5) What was up with how Trunk's delivered his power up cry when going to SSJ Grade 2 for the first time in Kai? The time where he was all, "uuuuuuuhhhhhaaaauuuuuuuhhhhaaaaauuuuuuuuuuhhh", and it sounded more like he was moaning rather than yelling? Chris Sabat is the director, so I'm assuming he would know.

Alright then, please ask him my questions, if you're willing! And also, I guess, send condolences for how much email they get about Battle of Gods :problem: ...

Very cool to see a comic con presence in Dubai. I wonder how many people will end up attending when everything is said and done? I hope you enjoy your time over there! If I had the time and funds I would totally fly out there just to check out a middle eastern comic con. :D

I mean, whether Jesus is real or not, he - he's had a bigger impact on the world than any of us have. And the same can be said for Bugs Bunny and - and Superman and Harry Potter. They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

Today's the day guys, wish me luck and let's hope 15 minutes will be enough to answer everything.

And if everything goes well, expect the video to be uploaded tomorrow among others like Gainax panels and Sylvester McCoy's Q&A session.

MISSION: SUCCESS!!

I had the chance to interview him and I asked him few Dragon Ball-related questions and some of them are not the expected answers you're looking for!

Well, there's no point telling you now without hearing from him so tomorrow or anytime soon enough.

Oh, and guess what I asked him to sign!
