I wonder what would happen if I were to send Mr. Santorum some of Funimation's fine Christian properties. Like Fullmetal Alchemist, Trinity Blood, A Certain Magical Index, Fairy Tail, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Black Lagoon, Rebuild of Evangelion, and... hm, how about a show where higher powers are fairly useless and guys who work out really hard are superior to them?

You think maybe his head would explode?

That would certainly be a shame.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"

I'm sure he'd just end up enjoying them, as they're all great properties.

Has FUNimation said anything regarding the feedback they asked for on this abomination of a remaster? Should I be at all surprised that they haven't?

I haven't seen anything, but I haven't actively been looking, either.

We're still anticipating responses to the questions we sent along, however.

Fair enough. Maybe they'll just use it for one of the bonus features on the set, which would explain their silence at this point.

Damn, 2 and a half stars.

Needs more one-star reviews though, IMO.

I don't see why Funi can't just make it possible to change between 16:9 and 4:3 in the settings. I'm sure I've seen lots of DVDs that include that option.

It's called the zoom button on every single dvd player ever made since the 90s.

I'm still just so stunned and disgusted at this release.

Yeah the DB boxes are for a niche audience since they cost a lot and most casual people don't have the money for them. Pricey stuff does not sell very well now these days in today's economy. If they came out before 2007 or 2008 then maybe they would have done better. I still think the Blu-Ray sets will sell well and I think we will likely get to the Buu saga in the next few years. Most consumers don't care on how the video looks as long they are happy with it.

The Dragon Boxes, which sold out mind you, sold as many as they were expected to sell, so I'm not really seeing the point in trying to cast things in a negative light. It's moving away from the subject at hand: FUNimation's releasing edited Dragon Ball Z again because...well, I'm not really sure they've made that clear.

It does a better job than the bricks do and it doesn't stretch the footage.

But I dont see the rationale of zooming-in already cropped video.

I feel like you've misunderstood what he meant.

He was saying the notion of releasing a 16:9 Blu-Ray is ridiculous because those who have an issue with it can just use their remotes to zoom in the 4:3 footage to fit their 16:9 TVs.
