The Hong Kong release is a tempting Christmas gift. If we had any idea when FUNimation would acquire the license for the film, it'd be easier to make a decision. ~30 dollars for a single movie is pretty steep, but it could be years before we get a proper release.
These subs sound awkward at times, though. Even if they're better than the fansubs.

Are you talking about ones like these?
Because they're just midsentence, they only look awkward because the start/end of the translations aren't there.

Well, there's the use of "tummy" in regards to Videl's womb. Maybe it's an accurate translation, but it still sounds goofy. There's a couple of other examples I can dig up later, but by and large I would have no problem with these subs. I'm usually not too fussed about that stuff as long as I can understand the story and characterizations fine.

That's fairly common phrasing with regard to pregnancy. Not sure where you're from, but I wouldn't bat an eye at it.

Southern California.
I've just never heard grown adults use the word "tummy" unironically, let alone to describe a pregnant woman. Maybe it's a little different since DBZ is for kids, I can't say.
EDIT: Just noticed
this one. Looks like that line failed a spotcheck.

Here in Maryland some people, more so on the Country side of Maryland(I'm in County luckily.) they say tummy all the time. Some older people say it as well.

I've heard plenty of grown women use it in earnest, along with "belly." I agree it always sounds goofy coming from a person older than nine.

"Belly" I still hear here and there, but "tummy" sounds like something you would say talking to or talking about a baby/toddler.

HK subs are always been known to be iffy even if they are official release. Too bad most fan subbers now these days avoid anime titles that get license quickly. Imagine if Anime Labs was still here today and subbing BOG. Just imagine how funny the subs would be

I would pay good money to hear their take on the 'MY BULMA' scene.
Okay, not really. But it'd be amusing.

I live there too, and it's mostly STOMACH used. I used to live in the UK, and tummy was used quite a bit.

In my area of Kentucky there's a-lot of people that will say this to describe a woman who is pregnant ''She's in the family way'' haha

It is VERY! Old school!

When my grandfather would say that I would say ''Oh you mean she's pregnant?'' And he'll just stare at me. LOL
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

it's region A according to the Kanzenshuu article about it, so unless you have a special player, it doesn't look like it:

These are hilarious. I am now much more confident in my HK Blu-ray purchase.

Some of the fansubs that were floating around during Dragon Ball Kai's airing I consider a spiritual successor to Anime Labs:

That's just beautiful.
Glad to see the Hong Kong subs actually worked out aside from that one line about drpste-ing the Earth.

What is with fan-subs and the word "Fuck" "Fucker" or "fucking"?
I don't speak Japanese but do Fuck(And its variations) have different spelling to the point almost everything translate into Fuck!?

Didin't realize a lot of gramatical errors either untill now lol
How good are E.Monsoons compared to Anime Labs?
