Did You Know Gaming? featuring Dragon Ball Z games

Post by Shiyonasan » Sun Dec 15, 2013 8:05 pm

Here's an interesting video with some trivia from Dragon Ball Z games featuring Takahata101 from TeamFourStar. Some facts are common knowledge on Kanzenshuu while others might not be that well known. In fact, Kanzenshuu is mentioned during the section on the Kenji Yamamoto scandal. You just might learn something from watching this:

I didn't watch the video yet, but I'm guessing the part with Yamamoto talks about when the Kanzenshuu community destroyed his career.

"The first Dragon Ball game to be released in the states was released in 1988, almost a decade before the TV show began airing in the country."
No love for the Harmony Gold dub?

It wasn't bad. But there were a few errors here and there.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I've yet to beat the first game, I got pretty close once though...
Thought it was neat.

I can't believe the Budokai tracks were plagiarized. Kinda bummed out, just like Sonic games, no matter the quality of DBZ games you can always say the soundtracks are outstanding.

Censored?

No, I don't think so. Use it on a stage that can't be destroyed and it doesn't happen.

That's where the difference between Defense and Attack win happens so the game must mix them up at that point, think it's destroying the planet then skip to the next part of the attack before it can.

It only made confusion in US for people to know what "Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout" was because the original title (Japanese) and European was intact as Dragon Ball: Final Bout.

The game itself doesn't even have GT's story mode and just due to featuring characters from GT doesn't make it a Dragon Ball GT game, the real Dragon Ball GT is Transformation.

Also, if DBZ Budokai 1 HD in US used the NTSC-U version then they kept the bloody hole on Raditz and on the EU version it's just a black hole as is on all PAL copies of Budokai 1.

I never understand why GT Final Bout got released back in 1997 in the US? To me, that game spoiled a lot of things to newer fans and I remember being confused by the game when I first got into DBZ as a kid.

I assume the logic at the time was that DBZ was on TV and they needed merchandise. Final Bout was the latest game and Bandai just wanted something out there.

They likely didn't think past that point.

Would have been a good opportunity to mention the music changes for the Sparking series.

Glad to see that they referenced the SNES games in Legacy of Goku II. That said, we're no closer to figuring out what the blue box is. Is Webfoot Technologies still around?

I believe so. Whether or not the same development team is also around is still up in the air.

I can't believe they physically released a game for 3DS that's about collecting rubbish.. how the hell do they think this could be fun to play?

Check it out, all their DBZ games are still listed on the site! This is wishful thinking, but I'd like to see a 3DS remake of the Legacy of Goku series, obviously with the first one being changed to play closer to the sequels.

 Same here, I remember being so confused with Final Bout when it was released in '97. I've said it before and I'll say it again though, I thought that the game was the best thing since sliced bread as a child. That secret code you would enter at the start menu to unlock all the characters and which would show a SSJ4 Goku melted my body so fast.

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

Final Bout was never a real Dragon Ball GT game.

In US however they added the custom title of GT for god knows why, it doesn't even cover any of GT's story.

And nope, having GT characters doesn't make it a GT game or else Budokai 3 / Infinite World / Tenkaichi 3 / Ultimate Tenkaichi would be.

The only real Dragon Ball GT game is this:

It's a shame there was never a universally loved GT game otherwise we might see more from it today.
Thanks to SSJ God Gogeta for the avatar.
