Yeah, if there's any transformation to get the shaft nowadays, it's Super Saiyan 2.

This game has never been available for consoles, the closest you'll get will be J-Stars Victory Vs. on PS3 only.Jackal puFF wrote:It makes me sad that we won't be able to play this game here in the US... Instead we get Battle Of Z......

I don't see a huge difference between this and BOZ. Both don't have in game transformers and they both had a lot of characters fighting on screen at once.

Have someone play a match with preteen Gohan, Godku, Zarbon and the upcoming Bardock update and you'll have a lot of characters playing on the screen at once who transform during the matches.Hellspawn28 wrote:I don't see a huge difference between this and BOZ. I have to wonder why it is that some of the Super Saiyans are separate characters in Zenkai if that is the case. Or do they not give existing characters updates?
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

To my knowledge, they have never updated an already released character beyond tweaks to move animation times, invincibility frames, damage, etc. It seems like the characters who have their transformations were designed with those in mind, and implementing the new forms on old characters would require cutting at least one of their already established moves for the button trigger for the transformation and completely reworking the game balance because of these changes.

Do we know if the characters have unique combos (like Super DBZ) or if everyone plays the same (like the Budokai & Tenkaichi games)?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

They're on the website now. Keep an eye out for videos on YouTube over the coming weeks.

Amazing to think that we started out with only a single row of characters. Look at it now; can't get much bigger, can it?
I wish they'd get on with whipping out a couple more stages, though. It feels like it's been a while.

Zenkai Battle Royale is turning out to be one of the great DBZ games. I wonder how many people are playing this in Japan...
I would totally dig this on console. IMO this game is better than every DBZ game the U.S has had in the past 6 years combined.

Piecing the info together, Bardock seems to have an anger meter. The more damage he takes, the more the meter fills up and he can dish out more damage. If you let the meter fill up completely though, he transforms into a Super Saiyan.

This is precisely why this game seems spectacular to me. Every character for this game has some serious tuning, and its shown to make things enjoyable.
I really hope Namco-Bandai allows for a home-port.

This may happen but once development stops, because it's still getting updates it's still technically in development.UltWarrior1 wrote:This is precisely why this game seems spectacular to me. Every character for this game has some serious tuning, and its shown to make things enjoyable.

I've only played Zenkai once and it did remind me of BOZ but with better controls and more depth to the combat system.
You'd probably see this on the PS4/Xbox One eventually.

That'd be something! Though, for some reason I feel like it would be easier to port this title to the PS3.Daimo-Rukiri wrote:This may happen but once development stops, because it's still getting updates it's still technically in development.UltWarrior1 wrote:This is precisely why this game seems spectacular to me. Here's hoping this game gets ported over to the PS4/XB1 and then localized because this game looks miles better than Battle of Z.

It definitely would be, since the machines it runs on are just re-purposed PS3s:UltWarrior1 wrote:That'd be something! Loved the Bardock montage, that's how you make someone excited for a character!
