Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 12/04
Well, on the bright side, nearly all of the comments I've seen on that video are from people who are fed up with this, either because they know the quality is terrible or simply because they're sick of seeing DBZ being re-re-re-re-re-released so frequently. Hopefully this won't sell, and FUNi'll have to spend some time wiping the egg off of their faces.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

For some reason, the funniest part to me was the sliding of the Blu-Ray next to the Orange Bricks.

Sorry if this has been asked a bunch recently, but I haven't been on the forums in a while. Is the podcast with FUNimation about these sets still in the works?

There was no podcast interview offered. We sent along text questions to be answered, and answers continue to be promised.batistabus wrote:Sorry if this has been asked a bunch recently, but I haven't been on the forums in a while. Is the podcast with FUNimation about these sets still in the works?

I like when it says Share, it's like it's telling bootleggers to file share the blu rays to save some people money.

That would be unfair to the customers who have pre-ordered it just to find out their purchase would end up incomplete. Let this collection come to its ninth volume and then focus on "Dragon Ball Z: Volume One (2014) - The Hardcore Edition (Blu-ray)".Gaffer Tape wrote:Well, on the bright side, nearly all of the comments I've seen on that video are from people who are fed up with this, either because they know the quality is terrible or simply because they're sick of seeing DBZ being re-re-re-re-re-released so frequently. Oh and, Amazon.com has fixed the colouring from the cover of Season 1 that they had on display.

The Level sets also had these little cubes to show how many volumes have been released so far, guess FUNimation's keeping this from now on.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

Goddamn, what a depressing trailer.
'Upgrade'
Nah, go fuck yourselves.
Oh well, at least it made it blindingly obvious who this release was marketed to (as if it wasn't already).

What a stupid commercial, I love when the Blu-ray is slipped in with FUNi's other piss poor release!

I don't think those handful of shots are enough to counterbalance... well, everything else in the video.

Indeed, this was a really bad and strange trailer. I guess they're trying to say that this release is for anyone, all ages...Kuwabara wrote:What a stupid commercial, I love when the Blu-ray is slipped in with FUNi's other piss poor release! The guy spilling milk all over the case? That's a real trailer?
Not a big fan of it.
I'm sure a-lot will disagree with me...But that was the worst Dragonball Trailer that I have ever seen.
I'm sure there may have been worse but nothing about that trailer gets me pumped to buy it?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Well...that's an interesting way of doing things. Hate to admit it, but I kinda like it.
We should so make a Kanzenshuu parody of this commercial, though. Like when Mike, Jeff, and Meri did one on the podcast for the 'Orange Bricks'. I can just imagine a scene where someones walks up to their shelf and rips down all of the singles and Season Sets, and places a Dragon Box in the centre.

Yeah, I think if it's anyone, it's going to be these people who pull through for us. I'm also hoping the people who bought the season sets because it was a cartoon from their childhood also don't feel the need to "upgrade".Gaffer Tape wrote: simply because they're sick of seeing DBZ being re-re-re-re-re-released so frequently.
Also, for the record, I'm not "outraged" or "infuriated" over this release (though I obviously don't like it). I just would rather not see it succeed so that it doesn't send the wrong message to FUNimation or anime distributors in general, indicating it's okay to DNR and crop old 4x3 anime.

Meanwhile over at Viz...
A little bit of me can't help but to think there's a small dig at these sets, or is "uncropped episodes" really that special of a feature nowadays?
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

I personally hate it, but I LOVE your idea. Could it be a Japanese Dragon Box?DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Well...that's an interesting way of doing things. Hate to admit it, but I kinda like it.![]()

The same could be said about offline on games being a feature now.ssgOverlord wrote:

It's two completely different series but still seems like Viz took a shot at FUNimation with the "uncropped episodes" like Sony did to Microsoft with "will play used games".
That's pretty nice of Viz, it's what FUNimation should be doing for us.

I thought the same thing, heh. They are competing companies after all, it would make sense if it was a kind of tongue-in-cheek poke at the DBZ Season Sets.ssgOverlord wrote:A little bit of me can't help but to think there's a small dig at these sets, or is "uncropped episodes" really that special of a feature nowadays?
On that note too, I am beyond excited for the Ranma re-release.

For what it's worth, besides both companies being part of the same industry and there being an expectation that everyone knows what and how everyone else is doing anyway, Charlene Ingram recently moved from marketing at FUNimation to marketing at Viz. There's a clear transfer of knowledge and playful rivalry going on.
