Alright, which one of you posted this in the comments section? I'm gonna come for you in the night.I watched the orange bricks and it wasn't as bad as everyone was crying about. I would rather watch this blu ray than have black bars on the side of my tv

There's something soul-crushing about seeing the SH Figuarts in that trailer.
Some of the best Dragon Ball merchandise we've gotten making an appearance in a trailer for some of the worst.

So, FUNimation's marketing people realized the footage looked like ass and kept it out of the commercial as much as possible. Buy it because of the warm feelings!

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

Wow! That Ad was well unusual to say the least.
Also, those people not taking proper care with the cases and discs, it's like why don't you use it as toilet paper

That trailer makes me wish it was December 31st already.
I can't wait! Even though it's 16:9, cropped, and saturated to hell, DBZ is DBZ. I'm ready for a FUNi nostalgia trip for the new year.
Here's hoping TOEI announces the Dragon Boxes to be released on Bluray next year, now that will be the definitive collection. Unfortunately if FUNi releases those, they probably won't add the BF soundtrack, so i'll probably end up keeping my 16:9 blurays as well as the (God willing) Dragon Boxes Bluray edition. Double dipping ftw!

FUNimation already knows how shitty this new release is. It costs them less to make shit and sell it rather than with a proper release, and they know nostalgiaheads will buy it anything. But there's one thing, since the Levels got cancelled, with no future plans (as of now) of reviving them, and if this new release fails too, what's left next for fans who missed out on the DBoxes?Metalwario64 wrote:I just would rather not see it succeed so that it doesn't send the wrong message to FUNimation or anime distributors in general, indicating it's okay to DNR and crop old 4x3 anime.

4kHd 3d DBZ with 16:3 cropping that doesn't have an JPN audio option?Black_Anime_Fan wrote:FUNimation already knows how shitty this new release is. The Orange Bricks serve their purpose if we can't have the Level sets. The bricks aren't good per say, but neither are these new sets. I'd rather not see anything come out if this is the best FUNimation can produce [within their budget], personally.

Well, there's eBay... But clearly they're still marketing the Orange Bricks as the standard way to view the series, as evidenced by their presence in that "upgrade. share etc" trailer until the Blu-Rays come out, so if they fail, we'll either have the OBs as the de-facto DBZ in North America for another few years, or we'll be seeing another (but hopefully more promising) release.Black_Anime_Fan wrote:But there's one thing, since the Levels got cancelled, with no future plans (as of now) of reviving them, and if this new release fails too, what's left next for fans who missed out on the DBoxes?

2005 is not a long time ago to most people and I feel like not much as change since 2005 in my opinion. A lot of things from 2005 still feel new to me since I was a fresh men in High School at the time.PhoenixEX wrote:Well why wouldn't I be? 2005 was almost a decade ago.AgitoZ wrote:Are you really that nostalgic for 2005? That looks really cool. Makes me wish Viz own the rights to the DB anime series instead.ssgOverlord wrote:
Meanwhile over at Viz...
A little bit of me can't help but to think there's a small dig at these sets, or is "uncropped episodes" really that special of a feature nowadays?

Yeah, I basically keep up with two series. DB/DBZ/GT and Ranma 1/2. I guess I know where my money is going now. Thanks for pointing this out. See ya DBZ Seasons! Hello Ranma!ssgOverlord wrote:

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I dunno for sure about that - Viz has done some pretty craptastic releases in the past too, there's no guarantee that DBZ would get any better treatment from them that it does from FUNi.Hellspawn28 wrote:That looks really cool. Makes me wish Viz own the rights to the DB anime series instead.
I mean, I realize this is two different products and departments, but just look at the quality of those three-in-one manga volumes they have put out for DB now...

Hopefully Viz finishes them, as their percentage complete on anime releases isn't exactly great (Even including cancelled DBZ releases you can count stuff Funi has cancelled on one hand, out of hundreds of shows, Viz releases far less, and finishes releasing very little.)ect5150 wrote:Yeah, I basically keep up with two series.
