Akito Tokunaga for Dragon Ball Kai?
I knew from the moment I listened to his scores on DBGT that his tracks were very well done. I really enjoyed how modern his score was in comparison to Shunsuke Kikuchi. I know Yamamato's score was more modern, but he plagiarized the others' work, but that's for later. So having been well done for DBGT, why didn't Toei use Tokunaga to score Kai?

I guess it's because Yamamoto was less expensive considering how Kai was low-budget. Also, he has an experience of being involved in Z.

I wish they had used Tokunaga. Some of my favorite BGM tracks were written by him.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

It would of been awesome to see how Tokunaga scored Kai. I've always enjoyed his tracks from DBGT and it might be my favorite soundtrack from a Dragon Ball series. I think I would describe it as dynamic yet light. It's different from Shunsuke Kikuchi's score but still captures the spirit of Dragon Ball. His music was used in DB:The Path to Power movie too which I've always loved. It was my first exposure to his music then I got to hear it for DBGT. I'm sure he would of composed a nice soundtrack for Kai as well. Reminds me I need to get the soundtrack for DBGT. Seems like he only provided music for DBGT, after it looks like he composed more theme songs for other anime.

I love Tokunaga's score for GT - as for me, it's a distinguishing factor for GT that makes it feel fresh, new and separate from Z and Dragonball.
By the same token, though, my biggest problem with the Dragonball franchise in the last 10 years is the endless cycle of regurgitation, and whilst Kai is undoubtedly a part of that, I think that the idea of bringing in someone new to the anime to create a refreshed score was a good idea. Yamamoto's credentials were good, and there weren't many dissenting voices in the fandom when he was chosen to score it given Kikuchi's retirement - but hindsight is 20/20 in this case, and plagiarism aside, his score isn't really all that good. It's in no way terrible, but it's the weakest of anime Japanese language Dragonball score. Well, Battle of Gods aside.

You know I have two examples of tokunaga with kai

I may concider rescoring every episode of kai with tokunaga's score. But the downside would be that there isn't enough of his music out there released to qualify rescoring all 98 episodes. The soundtrack would get repetative
