This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

My god, that's terrible. Not the font, the font's fine, but the actual 'remastering'; the stars on the Dragon Balls barely look like stars anymore!

Wow FUNi sure made the anime look modern. I feel like i'm the only one that actually likes how it turned out, I guess it's probably because i'm not so nitpicky. You guys can sit here and complain all you want but FUNi does what they want, you can either take it or leave it. The end. You don't like it? get a different release or save your pretty pennies for another release of your desire.

After all what was written here, you are saying that people are nitpicky? :eh: You can just buy it and enjoy it instead of complaining on people who are complaining.

I'm happy with people who are complaining on this crappy release. Thanks to this discussion, I've learned things that I wouldn't find anywhere else.

From the other point of view, I also think that complaining only for complaining does not have much sense. I cannot speak for the others, but this is (was) not the point of my "activity" :)

That 4-panel shot is at the end of episode 34, as for this release, I'm sorry, but, how many DBZ releases we have to buy, until we finally get DBox od DB/Movies/GT?

Ill have to wait until I can get hold of some episodes to view on my 47 inch properly. It doesnt look terrible in motion but I bet the detail loss will be very large when I can see it properly.

To be honest I didn't even notice the Dragon Balls were so awfully looking but maybe that's because I was more focused on the title screen and subs. Most people watching it won't even notice these kind of insignificant details for their enjoyment.

Thanks for the link! :) I really like the Blu-ray Menu. I like the Level sets Menu more though but! I will get the first one and if I like it enough I'll give the orange bricks to my brother. :P I'm still waiting to hear if any animation is getting deleted when stuff is shaking on screen. :?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

The title cards and backgrounds look like a painted drawing, honestly can't understand how nobody would notice that even a little bit, unless they just don't care.

:wtf: What? Besides the Orange Bricks this is the only release to get this kind of flack, and since those have been around and talked about years, and that this new release is the "future" as they put it, looks like you're just going to have to deal with all of this "bitching", or whatever you wanna call it.

Ugh, seriously, the hell is up with that generic rock music that replaces Cha La? I'm really sick of that. I mean, if you're gonna have to make the English track some generic music, might as well make it the american soundtrack since it fits it better. (Though, they keep the ending theme probably, don't they? Puzzling..)

Hey! C'mon, some of us here grew up with that crummy rock music! xD Anyway, I do see where they're a step-up from the old Seasons, but I also see where they're a step-down from the Dragonboxes and levels. The OBs were a bad release in comparison. The Dragonboxes and levels were Good releases. That makes these the middle-ground, yeah? These are a fine/tolerable/decent release. That, and ever since they started including Jap music, it hasn't been excluded again, unlike with the Dboxes, so we're actually kinda lucky, guys xD

Yup, that's still the default.
Well, at least there's one positive to come from this release.

Another positive, I think, is how the boxes connect to form a bigger picture. That's pretty cool, even if the picture itself (with its off-model characters) isn't exactly ideal.

Aside from that... I'm drawing a blank. From what we've heard, the only bonus feature seems to just be a tease asking people to buy the upcoming sets. And the picture is... yeah. I don't really think it's accurate to say that these are "better" or "worse" than the DVD sets. I think that's going to vary depending on what aspect of the picture quality you're talking about. There aren't any missing lines like on the DVDs, but at least the DVDs looked like the series was shot on film. It's hard to tell from the video posted above, but are the menus really doing that deceptive 4:3-to-16:9 thing from the trailer? They're still trying to justify the cropping even after you've already bought the product?

- DBZ Singles
- DBZ Orange Bricks
- DBZ Dragonboxes
- DBZ Rock the Dragon Edition
- DBZ Levels (Cancelled)

But out of all these the only one that's the best and complete is the US Dragonbox so if you're really soo desperate then just fork out $$$ for it or get the two original Japanese Dragonboxes Z and then add subs to it.
B wrote:Oh my God! Please tell me what other versions of DBZ I can buy in North America!
Read above.

Besides, if you guys knew Spanish, French or Japanese you wouldn't be stuck to waiting for another complete 4x3 AR release like the US Dragonbox with English subs.

One of the things that should be mandatory in US would be Spanish for everyone in schools but for some reason they're not doing it, I suppose 'cause of all the anti-Spanish and "so hablo ingles". :?
