Quick SuperSonicWarriors2 Question.

Post by Kaboom » Fri Jul 07, 2006 8:41 pm

Howdy, y'all. Arizona Post numero tre.

Anyhoo, here's the scoop. In a short while (in the next week or so, probably), I will be proceeding to trade in my beloved Game Boy Advance SP and most of it's games and accessories, and will purchase a shiny new Nintendo DS Lite. Now, naturally, such a nifty system is of no real use without games for it. So I'll be buying one or two.

As you may have guessed, being the bright little bananas that you all are, I'll be getting SuperSonic Warriors for my shiny new DSLite. What I'd like to know is...

...Does it have a good tutorial mode like the first one, so I can be cheap and buy it used (and thus with no instruction manual)?

Thanks.

P.S. - Any other game recommendations?

Along with SSW2, I was planning to snag Super Mario 64 DS, and definitely Pokemon Diamond/Pearl whenever they come out (Yes, Pokemon. Don't mock me, foolish mortal).

Yes it does, with Piccolo and Gotenks. :P

As for games, I highly recommend Jump Superstars and New Super Mario Bros.

Oh, so Gohan's too good for poor ol' Pic anymore?

Anyhoo, thanks. Just wanted to be sure.

And yeah, New Super Mario Bros is towards the top of my list. I'm trying to decide between that and Super Mario 64 DS.

I would have to import JSS, wouldn't I?

Yes, but I would recommend that you pre-order or wait for the sequel because it has the Wifi feature & getting the first one would be completely irrelevant by then.

Make sure you don't buy LSW 2 used, though. It doesn't have a delete option, so you can't start the game over. Unless something like that doesn't bother you.

Mario Kart and Animal Crossing are great games too.

If you wanted to get the Japanese edition of Supersonic Warriors 2 [a.k.a. Bukuu Ressen] You can have [Neko Majin] Z as a support character!

As for Nintendo DS recommendations: "Jump Superstars", "Bleach DS", "Eyeshield 21: Max Devil Power", and the obligatory "WarioWare Touched!"

Well, everyone's already answered the SSW2 questions, so I'll move on to the game reccomendations.
And yeah, New Super Mario Bros is towards the top of my list. I'm trying to decide between that and Super Mario 64 DS.
If you have to choose between them, I'd reccomend getting New Super Mario Bros.. 64 DS was nice, and even had a few more stages than the original, but if you've already played the original it's still gonna be pretty much the same thing. Which is still awesome. But still, NSMB is amazing, and is currently my favorite DS game I've played. Not to mention, as the title suggests, it's completely new, and not just a port or remake like 64DS.

As for what games you should get, there are lots of good ones. If you're looking for extremely innovative games, go for Kirby: Canvus Curse. The game is controlled entirely by the stylus, and is a ton of fun, despite being too easy. It's rather short, but if you wanna collect all the secret coins and everything, you'll be replaying it a lot. I'd also reccomend Sonic Rush, if you liked the old 2D Sonic games, as it's one of the best sonic games since Sonic and Knuckles. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is also a great game, or at least that's what I've heard from my brother who's played it. If you like any previous Castlevania games or any of the Metroid games, which are very similar, the game's absolutely worth getting.

And if you're looking for good Wi-Fi play, go for Mario Kart and Metroid Prime: Hunters (though, sadly, the single-player of Hunters is severely lacking).

There are other games I would reccomend, but I think that's enough for now. Those are some of the best, in my opinion. Hope that helps at all.

There's one more game you really don't want to miss: Phoenix Wright, the courthouse drama graphic adventure, featuring the kind of wackyness that could only come from Japan. It's brilliant. Kinda hard to get in the US, though, but you can always import a copy from Europe.

Then there's also the minigame-a-thon Feel the Magic and it's sequal Rub Rabbits, which I personally found better than Wario Ware Touched (which is the worst Wario Ware game to date).

It probably wouldn't, but thanks for the heads up. However, I might not have a choice; I checked Gamestop's website listing for it, though, and they only had the "used" price listed. Has it already been discontinued or something?

Well, I've heard that if you press all the buttons on the DS you reset the game data. If it does work then it wouldn't be a problem buying a used one.

No, I've tried everything, but that apparently only work with certain games. Heck, I even took the cartridge out while I was playing, but all you get is a "The cardtridge has been removed" message.

Ssj Kabbom, I've seen quite a few new copy in stores, but I haven't really seen any used since I bought my used copy. The new price is $25 (last I checked), so I couldn't imagine used being any more than $20.

There is a sale at Circuit City. They're selling Super Sonic Warriors 2 and other DS games for $8.96. I would've bought one but they were sold out by the time I got there...

Other good games for the DS are Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Wario Ware Touched.

Thanks, y'all. At least I know there's still plenty of copies out there. You have no idea how frakkin' hard it was for me to find a used copy of SSW1, since it's been discontinued.

I guess I'll pick SSW2 up new, then, anyway, because of the save "problem" (Automatic save is nice, but wtf?). My SSW1 was only less than half-finished, so it wasn't that big a problem, but I don't wanna have this one ruined.

And I'm maybe gonna pick up both Mario 64 and New Mario. I never played much of the former during it's N64 glory days, yet the latter is still too hard to resist.

Also, while I love the DS's touchscreeen and such (And applaud Nintendo for being so innovative with it's systems lately), I don't think I'll be playing too may games that just completely center around it(i.e. WarioWare), but a stylus for aiming shooters like Metroid tickles my fancy). I can't help it. It's just da way Ah 'em.
