Just curious.
Malik may have plans for DBNA that take place around the time Hero's Legacy takes place so he may write it off so it doesn't conflict with anything he has planned. He already wrote off Broly and the original GT ending.
Malik writing off Broly doesn't conflict anything though. He didn't even write him off. Now the original GT ending he wrote off. But Broly isn't a right off. If he was then Janemba and other movie villains are write offs as well.

Here's everything that IS canon and non-canon to the DBNA Timeline

Canon Material (unaltered)

Original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z Manga
The original manga is the definitive source, and cannot be altered. If it happened in the manga, it happened in DBNA.

Special 1: Bardock - The Father of Goku
There are little to no inconsistencies or inaccuracies with the special, and it can be accurately placed on the timeline.

Canon Material (minor alterations)

DBZ Movie 5: Cooler's Revenge
Minor dialogue edits, and the removal of Gohan's tail and alterations to his appearance to resemble himself at the time. Son Goku is also able to use the SSJ Form at will. Also placed as taking place during Age 766, 1 year 6 months before the Android Saga.

DBZ Movie 14: Battle of Gods
Mainly minor dialogue edits, and mentions of Tarble, who is not canon to this Timeline.

Dragon Ball GT
Pilaf and crew are no longer old to keep in continuity with Battle of Gods. Up to the end of the Baby Saga, most of GT is unaltered. See the Special Chapter DBNA Chapter ZERO for full details on GT alterations.

DBZ Special 3: The History of Trunks
The minor inconsistencies can easily be changed to fit the events as they appeared in the Special from the manga.

Non-Canon Material

All of the following is non-canon to the DBNA Timeline and is completely ignored. The reasons for most of the following material being non-canon are because Dragon Ball films are all "retellings" of sagas with minor to significant changes, while Dragon Ball Z films are entirely new stories made to fit between sagas. Much like the rest of the filler, the motion pictures have many contradictions to the rest of the series, questionable character power interpretation, and makes it hard for them to fit anywhere in the timeline because of chronological errors. The typical chronological error is the group of main characters chosen for the film not matching the timeline, a particular character not being able to perform a Super Saiyan transformation, etc. The anime itself also contradicts the original manga several times, making the anime canon completely ignored by DBNA.

Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z Anime

DB Movie 1: Curse of the Blood Rubies
DB Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle
DB Movie 3: Mystical Great Adventure
DB Movie 4: The Path To Power

DBZ Movie 1: The Dead Zone (and by extension, the Garlic Jr. Saga)
DBZ Movie 2: The World's Strongest
DBZ Movie 3: The Tree of Might
DBZ Movie 4: Lord Slug
DBZ Movie 6: The Return of Cooler
DBZ Movie 7: Super Android 13!
DBZ Movie 8: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan
DBZ Movie 9: Bojack Unbound
DBZ Movie 10: Broly - Second Coming
DBZ Movie 11: Bio-Broly
DBZ Movie 12: Fusion Reborn
DBZ Movie 13: Wrath of the Dragon

DBZ Special 2: Movie Overview Special
DBZ Special 4: Looking Back at it All - The Year End Review

Crossover Special: Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy

Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans (Original and Remake)
Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!
Episode of Bardock

All P.S.V. and Live Action Films.

What about Dr. Slump, Neko Majin, and Jaco The Galactic Patrolman? And what about the guidebooks?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I remember him saying only what he includes and the original manga is canon to his fanmanga. So most likely Jaco and Neko(Kinda obvious for Neko) won't be canon but Dr.Slump might have elements. He might take some info from the guidebooks but they aren't canon so to speak.

Only what appeared in the original Dragon Ball manga is canon in terms of characters from the Toriyamaverse. I do not include any characters from gag manga like Neko Majin etc unless they appeared in the original story.

As far as guidebooks, while some aspects of DBNA take from them, they were not written by Akira Toriyama. I do not have adequate access to them, so I mostly ignore everything except the Daizenshuu. No V-Jumps, GT Perfect Files, etc.

So, Arale & co. are canon, but the events in Dr. Slump are not, right?

During season 1, you will see Trunks transformed, as for a whole sequence for him, we'll see ;)

And thank you for the kind words about my take on Son Gohan and Trunks for DBNA :)

Just a reminder, since the stars are supposed to be within the center of the Dragon Balls, they shouldn't show through the glare.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.

I am aware, and that is how they appear in the finished frame. Most of the frame work I post is missing something that appears only in the finished animation
