So you don't like the BGM that plays during the Gohan turning SSJ2 scene? That's awesome!

It's good. But I always find myself listening, humming, playing back songs that come anything up to Movie 3 of DBZ. I never said I don't like it, it just isn't as many memorable tunes. However, that song is an insert song, same with when Trunks kills Freeza, and those are not really what I mean. I am talking more about the background tunes composed by Kikuchi (mainly the instrumental orchestral compositions. The insert songs are excluded).
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Also, I'm pretty sure that those insert songs are actually by Yamamoto.

Since it's objectively can't you say the same about Dragonball? I mean that's not even unpopular. That's just...IDK being objective....
Dragon Ball does a significantly better job of fulfilling the criterias that make a good show. A well-developed and engaging story, characters staying relevant, good character development, etc.

Dragon Ball Z, on the other hand, is pitifully weak in both story and characterization, and no one will defend how it made everyone who wasn't a Saiyan useless.

If you were to get an adult who knew nothing about the Dragon Ball franchise and made him watch both DB and DBZ, I guarantee you he would vastly prefer Dragon Ball, like most people who've watched both.

I somewhat agree with you thatdbzguy; I went through the entire series in 2013 and I felt the decline happen after the Namek arc. The Cell and Buu arc have moments that have aged incredibly well, but are overall a mess.

Most fans agree with the notion that DBZ, at least after Namek, is terrible objectively.

I seriously doubt that, and I also seriously doubt that you have done a sufficient study to back that statement up. Dragon Ball's purpose, whether it's the manga or the anime, is to entertain. If it accomplishes that, then it's a good show, to whoever enjoys it. If it doesn't, then it's not. It's that simple.

"Most fans"?. Is that why a lot of fan art and promotional artwork use Cell Arc character designs? Is that why most of the popular character COME from Cell arc? IS that why SSJ3 is the arguably the most popular SSJ form? Which is saying a lot since SSJ1 is loved. Look I understand you're ashamed to like DBZ but don't bring us down with you. Who are these "Most fans" anyways? Are they the same people who you said when you started that topic a while back? You know those "hardcore" anime fans. While most hardcore fans LOVE dbz and got into anime cause of it.

You can be entertaining and still not have writing that even My Little Pony laughs at.

DBZ is clearly not an example of this.

Well they're wrong, because that's a subjective thing, not an objective one. DBZ just doesn't match their tastes. Please learn what subjective and objective actually means, and furthermore, do not think that an opinion being popular gives it more weight.

The Cell arc starts off dull with its Terminator plot and boring villains, but I start to like it when Cell shows up.

The Buu arc actually starts off great with the Saiyaman arc but the story starts to go all over the place around the time we have continuous back to back battles with Gotenks, Gohan, Vegetto, etc.

But that's just my opinion; I really couldn't care what anyone else thinks. I have no intention to change people's mind.

The only reason the Cell and Buu arcs are as popular as they are is because of the growing audience of children who watched DBZ back on Toonami.

As for the whole "hardcore anime fans" thing, I dare you to go to a website dedicated to anime in general and ask people there how they feel about DBZ. In my experience, they'll either say they despise it, or they cut it some slack just because they grew up with it.

Why should I care what their opinions are? If they despise it because of personal gripes with the series, that's fine, I'll just disagree. If they despise it because of elitism, there's not much merit in that.

You seem to be under the impression that you can't judge a show from an objective standpoint at all, which is entirely false.

For example, if we can't judge shows objectively, then that means that Jersey Shore is just as good as Breaking Bad.

I really don't care less what "hardcore" anime fans have to say, and by the way the internet crowd is just a small minority anyway. A lot of things that are hated by the internet crowed is actually really popular and well-liked in real life.

If "bad writing" doesn't negatively affect people's opinion of the show or manga, then is it truly "bad writing?" Dragon Ball doesn't claim to be some grand bastion of superb storytelling. It starts out as a gag manga with poop jokes, and ends up as a fighting gag manga with non-poop jokes. A story does not have to have Tolkienesque writing to be a good show.

I've been part of this fandom for over a decade, and I have yet to see this huge section of the population who have watched or read the series, and look down on Dragon Ball (Z) for it's bad writing, or for it being "objectively bad" (whatever that means  )

I would go so far as to say that except in the most outlandish and extreme cases, there is no such thing as objective quality in entertainment. There will always be people who disagree on your opinions, and why should their opinions be any less valid than your's?

You didn't refute it. You provided no evidence to back up that claim, and you can't, unless you manage to survey the majority of anime fans in the world. Which isn't going to happen.

 You thought I was talking about Toonami. I was talking about worldwide pal. There's a reason(besides looking alike) that every Saiyan is getting SSJ3 before SSJ2 in Heroes. There is a reason why promotional artwork mostly show Cell Arc characters. There a reason why fan works have more post Freeza stuff then Saiyan arc.
As for the whole "hardcore anime fans" thing, I dare you to go to a website dedicated to anime in general and ask people there how they feel about DBZ. In my experience, they'll either say they despise it, or they cut it some slack just because they grew up with it.
Bullshit. How can you dare me if I do ALL the time. I been on many anime forums, website, Conventions, Stores, and even fucking Anime Nerd Clubs. ALL of them yes have some DBZ haters(AS EVERYTHING GOT HATERS. Mostly popular stuff.) and even MORE got lovers. More got lovers who didn't grow up with Z. I DARE YOU to find me an anime with ZERO hate at all. I fucking dare you.
You shouldn't, I was just refuting the claim that most hardcore anime fans love DBZ.
Yes cause being hardcore fan is the majority  . Yes cause ALL hardcore fans use the internet to discuss anime. I have you know that most hardcore fans despite what they say on the internet. I bet you that at least 89% of them own DBZ stuff.

You said it before. "I hate it when some people(NO MATTER HOW SMALL) talk about what I like". So because a little bit of people hate DBZ that means to you that EVERYONE hates it. Which is false. BoG proved that DBZ is still loved. Why do fans want a new series? Why do Fans want more games? Yes because they fucking hate it. No. THEY LOVE DBZ. It's FUCKING BULLSHIT if you sale more people hate DBZ than Love it.

You can objectively critique art, but what someone finds enjoyable is completely subjective.

I agree that the Cell arc is weak in comparison to the Saiyan arc but I still like a lot about it.
Tolkienesque writing
I know this will get some flack but the guy was not as good a writer as he is given credit for. Some enjoyable stories but the guy writes 70 pages of exposition about a ring and has characters come into the story that serve little purpose beyond doing one thing then never being seen again. That said, I get your point.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.
