The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Edit. Ok I would like peoples reviews on this set, I would love to know what other fans think of this before I buy it.
Here are some examples of selective cropping in episode 1.

As for the sound quality I went over that in a previous post http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =2900#wrap it's the last post on the page.
If you already own the dragon boxes then there really isn't any reason to buy this set unless your a fan of the american broadcast music. However if you own the orange bricks then this sets is definitely worth the upgrade imo. You get selective cropping and the disappearing line issues have been fixed. Crap, I forgot that the OB were crap. But I have to say the Blu-Ray cropping is much better. I wish I had the DragonBoxes but I don't. So I will get the Blu Ray sets. Thanks for the Images

Seriously, wasn't Funimations original singles bright as well? I just remember for the most part namek being slightly brighter than the previous ark.

Hell, the Namek episodes were bright and washed out looking even on the Dragon Box and the Level set trailers. That's just the way those episodes look, I guess.

The brightness on the dbox didn't vary much from the Saiyan ark into the Namek ark, but certainly those episodes appear brighter but brighter colors are used which makes it look bright.
The trailer didn't look anywhere near as bright as OB Season 2 but we'll see once it arrives in February.

Surprised Season 3 isn't available even if it wouldn't be released until late summer/fall.

I watched a comparison and seeing some of the pics, I kind of like how this set looks and how it's Japanese audio sounds. Is it just me. Thinking of picking up Season 1 because this audio is too good to pass up.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

The season two teaser looked moderately decent compared to what I've seen of season one thus far.

The grain removal on the Blu-rays is just so...aggressive.

That being said, the Japanese audio is actually quite nice.

I dunno. The "remastered" Japanese audio sounds kind of tinny when compared to the raw audio to me. Especially on the eyecatches.

I'm honestly shocked at all of the people supporting these and saying they look better than the orange bricks... If brighter than season two is your idea of better, then I guess I can understand.

Well, in some ways they're better. I don't really consider it an upgrade, though, and will wait (perhaps forever) for at least an average release.

Not that I want to come across as though I'm supporting or think there's anything at all actually good about this release, but aside from specifically the brightness in these particular examples (and whatever other eyesores we get down the line), these do look better than the Orange Bricks on the factors of clarity (most of the linework, while blurry, can actually be made out, and the lines don't break and vanish in shaking shots), colours (the earlier Orange Bricks have a yellow-ish tint) and the cropping is moderately better-handled.
If I really needed an inexpensive and complete set of Dragon Ball Z and these or the Orange Bricks were my options, I'd go for these. Thankfully that's not the case.
It's not to say that these are good in any way, but more to say that the Orange Bricks really were that bad.

The 5.1 track is with the Japanese Music. The American music only gets a 2.0 track.

The trailers are brighter than the actual release look at this shot of piccolo from the season 1 trailer on Funimation's youtube channel. http://youtu.be/IAZVelPNU3o?t=32s Then look at the same trailer thegreenquality5th uploaded take from the blu ray he upscaled it to 4k so it has a higher bitrate on youtube. http://youtu.be/LF_IDN6Mk50?t=25s Here are some screen shots Trailer on Funimation's channel http://imageshack.us/a/img849/7851/6p9j.png Trailer from thegreenquality5th's channel taken from the blu ray http://imageshack.us/a/img844/5128/j00v.png The season 1 trailer also had an issue with crushed blacks a problem that wasn't present or at least not as bad on the actual blu rays. Trailer on Funimation's channel http://imageshack.us/a/img21/6978/ge1i.png On the actual blu ray http://imageshack.us/a/img855/4336/p8gs.png. In the trailer the background of that shot looked almost completely black on the blu rays however it's clearly visible that the background is blue. The colors from the trailers aren't an accurate representation of the releases video quality it seems like Funimation tweaks the colors for the trailer.

I think it's pretty foolish to judge Season 2 fron it's trailer. Considering what happened with Season.

Although the trailers and Season BDs share the same footage it's not exactly accurate to go comparing them as if they were the final version of it. So I'll just wait for the actual product to be released and then see.

Rightstuf (I think) sends products to the customers 2 weeks earlier so I'll wait for those results.

Edit: It's just 15secs trailer.

Seems like YouTube has downgraded the quality of the original video I uploaded.

Amazon has the S1 Blu-Ray under review as they claim there is something wrong with it.

They should clean out all posts on the review section as most of them don't even own the actual BD Season.

Amazon might have that because they're getting more stock? Maybe.
