Will there ever be be any Dragonball Z games for Xbox 360?

Post by Coach57 » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:11 pm

I was just wondering if Bandai or any other company will ever release a Dragonball game for Xbox 360? I remember a couple of years ago in an issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly that it was a possiblility (it even suggested the title of Dragonball X or something to that effect) for a Xbox game. I have played the other games on the PS2 but I would like to see at least one game for the 360.

Much more likely to come out on the PS3.

I figure that that will be the case but you never know.

I certainly hope so, I'd love to have a DBZ game in full high definition and surround sound. Budokai and Tenkaichi look great on normal TV's, but as good as I'd like on a plasma.

If you asked a year ago, I would say, "Absolutely not. Next gen DBZ games will be on PS3." But with the current pricing on PS3, I don't know if 360 will gain a foothold in Japan or not. If it does, there certainly is a possibility.

Well there will be a Naruto game on the 360 so maybe if that one does well we might see a Dragon Ball game.
Although I realise they are not related someone might realize that it could sell well.

Iam sure its possible. The majority of the DBZ games would probley be on the PS3 though.

If there are to be more DBZ games coming out on the next gen. consoles, I hope they aren't cell-shaded. Why people think DBZ goes so well with cell-shaded graphics is beyond me. To me, it seems like the creators nowadays don't feel like spending a lot of time to create new and highly detailed 3D characters, or even 2D sprites (which would be a dream come true). What a shame.

I highly doubt that we'll be seeing DB-related games coming out on Xbox 360. I think that DBZ console games are Sony-exclusive for now. I mean look at this so far, only DBZ Budokai 1&2 and Sagas came out on GameCube. And Sagas coming out on Xbox, I consider this a fluke, which occured only once and never again.
Still, it would've been nice if Xbox 360 had any good DBZ games coming out in the system.

What the H.F.I.L.? Cel-Shading goes perfect for any game based on animated material, including Dragonball. You get that 'cartoon style' and 3 dimensions at the same time. The character models in B3 are top notch as well, and far more detailed than any of the 2D sprites that have ever been designed.

That may be true, but I would like to see them do some more DBZ games in 3D. If not just for a change of scenery.

3d would not be bad as long as it doesn't turn out like Final Bout did (anyone remember Sausage Tail SSJ4 Goku?).

DragonBall is an odd game franchise, consistently pumping out more games in both 2D and 3D, most series choose one or the other.

Sadly, I doubt there will be any DragonBall games for the 360. So far the only game in the entire franchise to appear on the original XBox was DBZ Sagas, an American made game unsurprisingly. I think the Japanese have some kind of bias against using and supporting American made products.

That being said, it's not out of the question. The most likely scenario that would allow that being a Sagas 2, and just prey to Kami that it's not as rushed and fugly as the first.

I don't think the Japanese would develop for the 360 on their own, the market just isn't there. Part of the reason they are developing Z games is the money from international companies.
The Naruto game on the 360 is being paid for if not developed by Ubisoft.

Contrary to popular belief you still need to make a quality 3D model for cell shading to work. >.>;; So it's not like they're not spending much time on creating 3D models. For that matter, I think that plain 3D works less well for anime games, because well, it feels less like an anime game without the dramatic shadowing and black outlines.

Now of course 2D sprites are excellent, but no good for a Dragonball game one on one fighting game. In my opinion at least. In the series the fights have never kept themselves to two dimensions, and with games like Sparking we're getting closer and closer to an accurate representation of the Z era fights. (Now for a game to recreate the DB era fights. =D )

HAHA! That's what I thought... man that game sucked. The only good thing about it was the neat intro.

That would be awesome! I think it would make a better 2D fighter than a 3D, mainly because most of the people of the DB era couldn't fly...

Mabye they could make it like Super DBZ if it were to be 3D. I hope Sparking NEO will really have the DB story line and a Chibi Krillin :D .

True, but they could jump really high! The high jump in Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a perfect example. It should be something like that, with the ability to execute combos and ki attacks in mid-air. It would be sweet. 8) No more of that split screen crap like in the Butoudens.

The 360 is doing worse in Japan currently than the original XBox did over there. It's barely hanging on by a thread. So, I seriously doubt it. You never know, though.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!
