Bukuu Tougeki / Supersonic Warriors

Post by Sun_Wukong » Mon Mar 15, 2004 11:36 am

Is anyone getting excited about this game? It is after all coming out in Japan at the end of the month.

I sort of am, except I haven't seen enough of it to get too excited about...

And is it going to come out in America? Someone told me that Buku Tougeki was Super Sonic Warriors, but EX says that game's an RPG...

I'm going bonkers for it! I can't wait! I thought everyone would like this game, but it seems no one really cares about.

Yeah, Super Sonic Warriors is the RPG. As for an American release, all I've heard is that Atari picked it up.

Super Sonic Warriors is the english version of Bukuu Tougeki, least from what I herd. The rom has been avaible for 3 or 4 days so far and, after playing it, I can tell that this game is one of the best DBZ games yet.

BTW there are 15 charaters, each with 4 levels. so 60 in all.

Not that it's not possible, but what credible source do you have to support this?

Super Sonic Warriors was described as an RPG when it was first announced. This new Japanese game is anything but an RPG. This isn't to say that the initial announcement was wrong; we haven't gotten any screen shots of this game that's supposedly due out in June / July... but at the same time, what you said totally contradicts the game's own official announcement.

Hearsay is not evidence.

A link would have been nice :P. For all the other lazy people, here's the actual link.

So this pretty much confirms it, from an actual source (not just "I heard this somewhere from a friend"). It's interesting, since it goes against the actual game announcement (then again, we all know how good at translating The Magic Box can be).

Cool stuff. Hopefully it'll put Taiketsu to shame. I don't download / play ROMs, so I haven't tried it, yet.

Agreed. When your sig is 10x the size of your actual posting message, there's a problem :P

Back on topic, though ^^;;

You can get that on two lines. You're just not trying.

I hope everyone else advocates that.

I understand why many people believe that older games have to be emulated, but these same people turn around and get commercial GBA games.

The game looks very promising, maybe even with a cinematic feel.

I was confused at first, seeing the screenshots that were posted by Nyogo, I thought it was an RPG. But they're just shots from the story mode of the game. So far its looking really impressive, I cant wait untill its released in May.

I'm not sure if that's sarcasm or not so I'll explain: I don't want it on two lines. That's why I'm asking if it's still too much.

Alright, I've tried this game out. I had extremely low expectations but the game is actually fun to play. It's very fast paced and not clunky at all. Most of the fighting takes place in the air where you can fly in all directions at great speeds. There's also a great emphasis on projectiles, as they do the greatest damage while there aren't many physical combo attacks you can do that are really significant. The game isn't exactly great, and has nothing over on games like Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, the Capcom Vs. series, and so on, but if you like DBZ you'll probably get a kick out of this for at least a little while. Combat is more fun than the Budokai games, at least. I probably won't pluck down the $30 when it comes out in America but it's a decent price for those high on DBZ right now.

Well, what do you expect for a GBA fighting game? As for in air combat, wasnt the game originally titled "Air Battle" or something to that extent?

"Bukuu Tougeki" roughly translates to "Air Battle Show." As far as we know, "Supersonic Warriors" is the American title.

You mean I should be more forgiving of it or something? I was just simply saying whether or not the game was fun to play, which is really what matters in the end, regardless of the hardware it's on. Besides, this game could have been done better despite its limitations.
