Piccolo training Gohan to conquer the world

Post by Mr. Piccolo » Fri Jan 10, 2014 11:50 am

Did Piccolo really intend to use Gohan to help him conquer the world after the Saiyans were defeated? If so, how would this work? Would he try to turn Gohan evil as well?

I don't think he ever intended to do this, he knew Goku would come after him even if he tried. Also, by the time Gohan had gotten to a stage where he could be a useful ally in battle I think Piccolo had already developed a soft spot for him. But I think if this was his intention he would probably use Gohans Oozaru form to strike fear in the earthlings.

He probably thought it would be a good idea to turn the kid against his own father. It would be a great revenge and it would be useful with his conquest. But the priority was to train him so that they could survive agaisnt the Saiyans.

The funny thing is that, even though he intended that, it was Gohan who actually ended up changing Piccolo. Kind of ironic and poetic.

Piccolo did say he was going to remake Gohan into "his own image" through the hellish training, but I guess Piccolo was just excited about the idea of Gohan becoming a seasoned warrior like himself. Even if Piccolo still had his attitude from after the battle with Raditz, I doubt he'd try to take over the world.

Right, I always assumed that Piccolo figured if he could beat the Saiyans in an alliance with the other Earthlings, he could then perhaps use Gohan in his fight against Goku. Of course, I think by the time of the fight with Vegeta and Nappa, Piccolo had lost that desire since Gohan had already softened his spirit.

I don't know if this is filler or not, but doesn't Gohan actually tell Piccolo at one point that Goku said that Piccolo was not really evil but he just had a grumpy attitude and a chip on his shoulder? I vaguely remember a line like that from the anime.

Gohan says in the manga to Piccolo that his father told him that Piccolo was much better ever since he reincarnated. Piccolo angrily tells him to shut up in response.

Ah yes, that is it! Thank you very much. That is an interesting line, seeing that Goku already saw the difference between Piccolo Junior and Piccolo Daimao. I suppose this all really calls into question whether Piccolo really had it in him to try to make Gohan evil and take over the world. The fact that the opposite occurred (Gohan turned Piccolo good and Piccolo became a defender of the Earth) seems to vindicate what Goku said.
