Are the Saiyans doomed to extinction?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Just like modern Homo sapiens that likely interbred with Homo neanderthalensis it is unnecessary to try and create a distinction between the human and saiyan species. The Tarble child does create some problems for a such a theory though, so it is likely that Akira Toriyama and/or the people who wrote the JSAT special likely don't care for this theory and also likely don't understand why it is unlikely that unrelated alien species would be able to procreate together.

To answer the OP's question though. The genetic material of the Saiyans will likely live on, but just as all living things do they will likely change shape into something that is likely to not appear to have many Saiyan traits.
I don't think it was ever said Tarble could procreate with his wife.
I mean he could have married without wanting to have any children, right?
