Most Tragic Past?
Who out of these is the most tragic hero?
Trunks: Last survivor of a world ruled by androids
Vejiita: Sold into slavery by the same tyrant who killed his father and blew up his planet
Piccolo: Survived alone for most of his life. Born into a world that feared him. Forced to kill his father's rival.

I agree that Piccolo preferred being alone, he always has, even when he became good and cared about Gohan.
My vote is for Trunks too. To have barely known your father, see your sensei and only one of the Z senshi left(Gohan) slaughtered, and to be living in a world that's been reduced to a total wasteland.
For Vegeta, yes there are things very tragic about him too, but Vegeta was harder-hearted by far than Trunks. He also used all that time comforting himself with the belief that he'd be the one to take Freeza down and rule the universe. So ya, not exactly a noble dream, which causes him to lose "sympathy points".

Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Yeah, it's close, but I'd say Trunks. Vegeta had a life that was just as, if not more, arduous, but Vegeta, quite honestly, handled it better.
And yeah, Piccolo likes t3h s0litud3.

Trunks hands down! He's seen more deaths than anyone combined! Thinking it over, I think Trunks is the only one with a tragic past. I'd say Tapion comes second if we step out of the canon storyline.
In Vegeta's case: His life was just annoying and disappointing due to Goku always being one step ahead. NOT TRAGIC!

If you actually have read the thing it said he was a servant of freeza for 20 years snice his childhood.SonGokuGT wrote:Trunks hands down! He's seen more deaths than anyone combined! Dude, believe me, I know Vegeta's story. Being a servant is not tragic, since all of the Saiyan race was under Freeza's rule. Besides he was more of a "hired hand", and one of his elite warriors... Sure, Vegeta wasn't #1, but he was living the life of royalty while probably getting totally payed by Freeza.Synthe wrote:If you actually have read the thing it said he was a servant of freeza for 20 years snice his childhood.SonGokuGT wrote:Trunks hands down! Took the words right out of my mouth. His tragic past is actually what gained him such a large fandom.SonGokuGT wrote:Trunks hands down!
Don't disregard Broli. They tried to murder him when he was a baby and tossed him out as garbage, literally, not to mention that he was driven insane.SonGokuGT wrote:He's seen more deaths than anyone combined! There is a big difference with Vegita and Trunks.SonGokuGT wrote:I meant deaths of loved ones...Kodoshin wrote:Vegeta has probably seen more deaths than Trunks has, given what the Saiya-Jin were doing (clearing out planets). Sure he was probably the cause of most of those deaths, but that is not the point
Vegita is the prince of a war-loving race whose sole purpose was to kill and conquer others, which is something that he grew up doing alongside Nappa.
Trunks is a normal earthling child that had to grow up seeing all of his loved ones and many others being murdered, whole cities getting totaled.
In other words, Vegita was better prepared for his tragedies, where as Trunks was not. He was just another child of Earth.

Whoa, now...
I'm going to say something really flippant here. You guys aren't going to take me seriously. You're going to laugh out of your minds. But nonetheless, I'm going to say it. It has to be said.
What about Kuririn?!
Okay. Done laughing? Actually, I'm serious. If you look deep enough into what he had to put up with (before the Android saga), you really have to pity the guy.
Sure, it's is kind of trivial to compare Kuririn to Trunks, Vegeta or Piccolo in terms of tragedy, but let me tell you: IT IS HELL TO HAVE TO WATCH ALL YOUR FRIENDS FALL IN LOVE AND GET MARRIED, when that's what your life goal's been. In fact, it's pretty pathetic in and of itself to have marriage as a LIFE goal.
When you first come to the realization that you're not like everyone else, that you just can't measure up to them, it's... well, a feeling I wouldn't wish on anybody. But Kuririn takes this in his stride! You have to give him credit for being such a champ about it.
And the poor guy keeps getting murdered in THE MOST TRAGIC ways (my sister can't even watch the scene where Freeza blows him up), and each time, he has the fact that he'll never live to see his wedding day on his mind.
This is why Kuririn is my favorite character, is because for me, he's the one who's the most human, or at least the one most like me.
So why would I pick Kuririn over the other three? Well, Trunks certainly has had a NIGHTMARE of a dark past, but at least he's good-looking enough that he could attract any girl he wanted to to help him through those hard times (assuming he can get to them before the Androids killed them
), and Vegeta... aside from the way his pride was hurt in his battle with "Kakarrot", he could really care less about his past. Both characters have a huge fangirl following, if that's any proof of how nice it is to be good-looking so that the blow of hardship is softened by the presence of a caring loved one. And as for Piccolo? Well, he's asexual, and could care less, so this is one of those moments we can just overlook him, in the area of romance.
And Kuririn's the nicest so-and-so around, too! Okay, so during his first few episodes in the original DB, he had a bit of the Roshi disease, but I'm sure at that point Toriyama was just experimenting with which direction he wanted to go with his character. After that, he turns into quite a gentleman, or at least as much of a gentleman as Kuririn can be.
Fortunately, a girl finally falls in love with him (Android 18, who if you ask me is perfect for Kuririn), but he sure got crapped on a lot before that!

BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.
So in other words, Kuririn was one of those guys that just couldn't win?
I agree. When compared to Goku, Piccolo, Vegita, etc., he was just too inferior and it's obvious that this is the route that Toriyama wanted to take with him. He has bad luck with women, he barely grew since he met Goku, and Toriyama stripped even more away from him by taking away his nose. Being noseless just makes him even more different.
Sucks to be Kuririn.

Wait... Krillin's had the most tragic past?
I DON'T THINK SO.
Let's remember that the most sexy, attractive girl in the series (Marron) would've said "YES" without hesitation. So, that throws out the idea he wasn't attractive. And he's one of the strongest humans (close to Tien). I'd love to be Krillin during his time with Marron... although he didn't think he was good enough.
The only reason he didn't "score" with the women was because he didn't think he was good enough. His false belief (that he wasn't desirable) was preventing him from achieving anything.

HAH! That's awesome.Deus ex Machina wrote:Kuririn hooked up with Marron for a summer romance, then married that bomb-shell #18. I would disagree that it sucks to be Kuririn, more like sucks to be Yamcha.
But, back to the subject, yup, without a doubt, Trunks (as if you didn't already know). I have a thing for angsty purple-haired heroes.
