Hisoka is support only? Too bad, I wanted to make him and Freeza fight since Jump Ultimate Stars. That would be the cruelest fight ever.
I hope I can make Cell and Meruem fight, at least.

I prefer Toguro over Sensui. Toguro & Freeza should have a conversation about how they both use 100% power output. Sucks that Hisoka is support though, such an awesome character deserves better.
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

Feels funny that Toguro is confirmed when I just started re-watching Yu Yu Hakusho again...literally confirmed when I reached the Dark Tournament saga...

So is this game out yet? Is it coming to US? Or do I have to use Play asia.com?

We cover the game pretty extensively on the website. We have an update waiting in the wings with all these recent character announcements, but Mr. Translator and family have been a little under the weather lately :). Here's the most recent update we have for it.

The game is due out March 19th, will likely never see a release outside of Japan, and can be purchased from a variety of sites like CDJapan, Play-Asia, etc. A lot of the "Limited Edition" version pre-orders are already sold out, however.

Really? Please, start watching Houshin Engi and Shaman King. Taikobou and Yoh need to be in the game.

I understand if you can't/don't want to answer this yet, but just curious - any chance at all we could see a podcast talking about the game in the future, after you've had time to play it (I think you've said you were ordering it anyway, but I could be wrong)?

There's zero chance there will NOT be a podcast review about the game.

Music to my ears then. I dunno the last time I've been this hyped for a game that I won't be playing for a good number of years (what with the no PS3...lots of games more easy to get first...and no moneys...blargh), but hearing more details about it from someone playing it firsthand will hopefully help tide me over.

I find it funny how so many of the voice actors who will participate in this game as non-Dragon Ball characters also voice Dragon Ball characters themselves. :P

Toei loves using their staple voice casts for characters.

Saint Seiya has a large number of voice actors who would either later be, or already were in Dragon Ball (Tohru Furuya as Pegasus Seiya/Yamucha, Hirotaka Suzuoki as Dragon Shiryu/Tenshinhan, Ryo Horikawa as Andromeda Shun/Vegeta, Hideyuki Hori as Phoenix Ikki/Captain Ginyu, Mami Koyama was Ophiuchus Shaina/Lunch/Arale, Kōji Totani was Whale Mozes and Capricorn Shura/Cui, Naoki Tatsuta was Crow Jamian/Oolong and many other DB characters, Katsuji Mori was Auriga Capella/Nail, Daisuke Gouri was Hercules Algethi/Mr. Satan, Kaneto Shiozawa was Aries Mu/Namu, Tesshō Genda was Taurus Aldebaran/Shu and General White, Kazuyuki Sogabe was Gemini Saga/South Kaioshin and several filler/GT chars, Yūji Mitsuya was Virgo Shaka/Kaioshin and Gregory, Kōji Yada was Libra Dohko (as an old man)/Dr. Gero)). Those are just the main Saints. Outside of Ryusei Nakao as Kraken Isaac/Freeza, I'm done listing examples of those, lol.

I was going to do more and for more series, but the longer I looked, the more I found.I'm pretty sure there's a lot for 80s Toei Series (worth a note, that many of those VAs and a few that weren't with one or the other were also in the Gundam shows a lot and Sailor Moon).

Japan knows how to use quality voice actors.

Man, I really do want to get this game, but I doubt I can get the money for it...especially for the anime song version (would make the experience so much more awesome).

Don't you worry about the anison version cause it's already sold out. So now there isn't temptation for those of us who don't want to waste around a hundred smackers on a game.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!

I now have a weird feeling that IF Bobobo and/or Yami Yugi make it in...they'd be support characters...

I wonder if they will add other versions of current characters, like kid Goku from DB or kid Naruto from Naruto.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Wow, Furuya is not voicing Seiya again. That's a surprise.

Also, that frrrrrrrrrrrinn' theme song. I am happy to see it revealed this early.

Looks exciting, the theme song's cool. Still, for a celebration of its history, it still is lacking a bit in the classic's department. Is stuff like To Love-ru or Madoka such big properties that they push out Hokuto no Ken, for example? Meh, as long as it's fun, I'll try to pick it up eventually. No time soon, though.

Even if Yamcha was in the game and Ichigo wasn't.

The video certainly got me excited, even though I'm still not entirely sure I'll get the game. I just wish there would be an English version, because I'm very interested in the story mode (I know it will be something simple, but I'd like the character interactions).
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

The latest Hokuto No Ken manga reprint wasn't done by Shueshia, which seems to indicate that they no longer own the series.
