Will AOTS 2 Come?
Will a sequel to Attack of The Saiyans, let's call it The Prince of Terror, ever come out?
At the end of AOTS, we see a picture of Freeza on Namek. I think it's a sign of a sequel, but I don't know.
It was released in 2009, and the 3DS was announced in 2010, Heroes was released in 2013, so is there a chance that we might see a sequel in the future?

Re: Will AOTS 2 Come?
I think that they probably wanted to make a sequel, but it probably depended on how well the game did.
I guess that it didn't do that well considering no sequel was made.

Unlikely. The developer of the game, Monolith Soft (not to be confused with Monolith Productions), had their majority stake purchased by Nintendo (from Namco-Bandai) back in 2007.
Right now they've got the weight of the world developing Nintendo-specific games on them (like X, their follow-up to Xenoblade).

Yeah with a game like that people are hyped up so they're wise to be developing "Xenoblade 2" than a sequel to a Dragon Ball game because that's far more profitable.VegettoEX wrote:Unlikely. I'm expecting "Xenoblade 2" to be a lot better than Titanfall. I love mecha games (more specifically the brawling type ones).

Attack of the Saiyans was likely developed after that purchase. Even more recently Monolith did Project X Zone for Namco Bandai.VegettoEX wrote:Unlikely. It's been so long that I feel the window of opportunity on a sequel has closed.
On a platform like Wii U I can't see X ever being profitable. That's not a low budget game, and it doesn't star a plumber.dbboxkaifan wrote:Yeah with a game like that people are hyped up so they're wise to be developing "Xenoblade 2" than a sequel to a Dragon Ball game because that's far more profitable.VegettoEX wrote:Unlikely. My pessimism aside, Monolith always had console and handheld development teams. The team behind X likely had nothing to do with Attack of the Saiyans.

Geeze, you're right. Attack of the Saiyans was 2009. Feels so much longer ago. I guess 2009 just feels that long ago now!Super Saiyan Prime wrote:Attack of the Saiyans was likely developed after that purchase. Even more recently Monolith did Project X Zone for Namco Bandai.

So I guess it's... possible?... but yeah, feels like that bird has long since taken flight. It would have made sense to tie in with the Freeza/Cell arcs of Kai (especially since the game is branded as Kai in Japan), but... yeah... no. :/

Re: Will AOTS 2 Come?
2009 feels like a few months ago to me. I think AOTS2 would have come out by now and I doubt most people would care for another game by now. It been a few years since the first game came out and a sequel would have came out in 2010 or 2011.

Super Smash Bros. 4
Mario Kart 8
Zelda Hyrule Warriors
These three games coming out this year are going to be highly profitable and that's because they've been highly anticipated for a long time so the Wii U can be very lucrative with the right advertisement, but the reason why it hasn't been selling well it's due to Nintendo's fault no one else.
I'm hoping to see one Dragon Ball game this generation for the Wii U or 3DS. The market's already filled up enough as it is with games of DBZ.

Re: Will AOTS 2 Come?
Two of those games star a plumber, and I get the suspicion Hyrule Warriors is a low budget project. After all, Tecmo Koei and Omega Force pump out what feels like ten different Muso games a year. I don't expect Bayonetta 2 to sell all that well, but that's more so because the first one didn't light up the charts on more popular platforms than just a Wii U problem. Given it's a salvage project Nintendo's investment in it might not be too high, so that could end up being a profitable venture for them.
But none of those games have anything to do with X. In fact, they're only proving my point that the game will struggle. Nintendo is effectively asking RPG fans to buy a Wii U for a single game, a single game that is a new IP at that. That's unreasonable. RPGs didn't push amazing numbers on the Wii, and that platform had a considerably larger userbase with a more supportive software library. Given those considerations, as well as how long X has been in development, I doubt it will be profitable. Of course I don't know that game's budget so it's just doubt.
Budgets bring us back to the topic at hand. We don't know how long Attack of the Saiyans was in development. The game sold pretty well in Japan, but I get the sense that it didn't do nearly as well in the west. It was one of the first Dragon Ball games Namco Bandai published globally, so they may have had some bullish expectations.

Re: Will AOTS 2 Come?
There has already been a 3DS Dragon Ball game. There was a port of Heroes. We didn't get it, but it did quite well in Japan. There's also that Famicom/Super Famicom compilation that is mostly Dragon Ball. I think we'll probably also see a second Heroes game sometime this year.dbboxkaifan wrote:Bayonetta 2Super Saiyan Prime wrote:On a platform like Wii U I can't see X ever being profitable. It's also hard to say that Hyrule Warriors was anticipated for a long time when it took nearly everyone by surprise, though that doesn't really have anything to do with the likelihood of a Dragon Ball WiiU title.

Re: Will AOTS 2 Come?
I'm aware of Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission but I'm hoping for one that bases on the original Dragon Ball series, it'd be lovely to see, hear and play it in HD.
Revenge of King Piccolo on the PC Emulator Dolphin is an HD Dragon Ball game but the normal console gamer isn't going through that trouble considering he/she does all gaming on consoles.

The BIg N have been struggling recently failing to meet predicted sales for both Wii U & 3DS but they have two ways of going about this either release the big 3 Mario, Zelda & Pokemon as they will get casuals in or release Star Fox, Metroid or F-Zero and appeal to the fan base that already have Wii U's. Every Console has a rocky start the original Wii included but Miyamoto's new rumored IP might be enough. Also Wonderful 101 & Pikmin 3 everyone forgets about em two great Wii U only games not remakes yet they are swept under the rug as people say to stop milking mario.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:Two of those games star a plumber, and I get the suspicion Hyrule Warriors is a low budget project. As for Monolith Soft they are practically Nintendo 2nd Party now. The Tokyo software team co-develpoed Super Smash Bros. Brawl, made Xenoblade and are making X exclusive for Nintendo. This same Tokyo team made ATOTS with Namco Bandai and co-developed Project X Zone with as Banpresto. Meanwhile their Kyoto Team Provided Development co-operation for Zelda: Skyward Sword, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pikmin 3 & Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Re: Will AOTS 2 Come?
It's pretty sad, but I came to the conclusion long ago that AotS2 was about as likely as Super DBZ 2 (or maybe Super DBZ TURBO: The New Hyperfighting Challengers HD Remix Edition EX or Ultra DBZ
). Essentially, if I think the game is one of the better things that has happened to DBZ in awhile, it probably won't get a sequel.
