The creators of Fist of the North Star had a nasty falling out with Shueisha. That's why what you mentioned happened and several spin-offs were printed by a separate publisher.

However, Saint Seiya's creator also had a similar fall out but Shueisha was still able to get Seiya in the game. So it's not completely out of the realm of possibility for Kenshiro to pop up.

YOSH! That theme song sounded amazing.

I loved the theme song, and really want to hear more of it. Also liked seeing Seiya having the Sagittarius Gold Cloth (though, I'd have preferred his Hades Arc Pegasus Bronze Cloth and the Pegasus God Cloth as the powerup, I'll take it). As for SS/FotNS...

Well, Masami Kurumada still went back after his "falling out" to work on Ring ni Kakero 2 for Shueisha from 2000-2009 (Super Jump I heard), so things can't be too bad. I think he just went to a place where there's less fear of being cancelled. Big fish in a small pond, nobody's cancelling Saint Seiya: Next Dimension at Weekly Shonen Champion (even though it has a far smaller audience than it did at Weekly Shonen Jump).

But Fist of the North Star? Not as easy I believe. Sadly...I really want a playable Kenshiro.

Then again, I have no money, so I doubt my opinion matters to a company >_>

Madoka is a magical girl anime with no relation to Shonen Jump at all.

The same goes for Tsukasa Hojo's City Hunter and Cat's Eye.

If I'm not mistaken, the original Saint Seiya series still gets reprints by Shueisha. Only the spin-offs are published by other companies.

At this point, I'm pretty much counting Hokuto no Ken and City Hunter out.
Also, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Nura. Konami has the rights to publish games of these series. Yugi appeared in Jump Ultimate Stars, but that was manga Yugi. And the characters in J-Stars Victory VS are based on their anime counterparts.

Sakigake!! Otokojuku in turn have good chances to appear, since Bandai Namco is publishing a new game based on the series.
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

If they were to put Kenshiro in, they would have to make several new animations of exploding heads and other body parts for all the other characters. Or they could just not put those effects in and make him a generic martial artist, making him totally uninteresting.

The game would also had to receive a higher age rating.

Maybe we can get Toei's Yugi voiced by Megumi Ogata in :P

That's not the point. I think that the reason is just one: they didn't reveal him yet.

And what about Jump Ultimate Stars for DS? Kenshiro was there, and his attacks were lot of punches and kicks, similar to Jojo.

Also, while it started in Shonen Jump, D.Gray-Man hasn't been a Shonen Jump series for ages. Having Allen Walker here is almost like having Edward Elric (yes, although not quite the same).

Upon looking it up, I realize that I meant Medaka. Shows how much I know about either of those :P

D.Gray-man was originally a Weekly Shonen Jump manga that got sent to the monthly Jump Square magazine. Both of those are published by Shueshia. Fullmetal Alchemist was serialized in Shonen Gangan, a Square Enix owned manga anthology.

Id kill to have Edward Elric and Natsu Dragneel in this.

EDIT - Just noticed Kenshin's stage is the arena he fought Shishio in. Also, no Hao from Shaman King? I'm surprised.

It'd never happen, but it would be pretty cool to see a multi-magazine based crossover game. Shonen Jump x Shonen Gangan x Shonen Sunday? Be still my heart.

Why would you expect Hao from Shaman King when we haven't even gotten Yoh from Shaman King yet (since he's the main character)...or was he confirmed and I missed it? I liked Shaman King back in the day. Regret never finishing it...Viz had to remove it from the magazine before it finished...

In fact, Viz's monthly Shonen Jump only ever completely ran Sandland (which was one volume) and Yu Yu Hakusho (which ran for 7 years) of all the series they did. Skipped ahead in Naruto and One Piece to catch up as well, iirc.

Still, this and Super Robot Wars Z3 (Come on, add Getter Emperor and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann so my life's mecha dream story/fight can happen) are two games I'd import in the near future for my PS3 if I could get the money.

Would have been three, if NB hadn't confirmed they were bringing over Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle.

I do love me some Jump (and Giant Robots).

...Mazinger Z was in Weekly Shonen Jump, wasn't it?

The first chapters, yes. But the last chapters were published in Weekly Shonen Magazine. Kodansha owns the series. :/

Oh, didn't know that. Does Kodansha also own Getter Robo?

Hmm...I wonder if they'll add Kinnikuman to the game. He's important enough for a spot.

Just watched the new video on the front page and I have to ask, did they change the art style. It looks different(better!). Sorry if it's already been addressed, I'm a bit out of the loop with this game.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

The game itself looks identical. The opening animation is prerendered, and adds a comic line texture to the character models.

If I could, I would add Edward Elric, Natsu Dragneel, Guts/Gatsu, and Inuyasha to the roster. Know what, id toss Astro Boy in there as well.

Oh ok, I figured as much but I wanted to be sure. Those comic textures and the softer lighting really make the models look a lot better though. I hope, if they ever make another game in the future like this, that they use the style from the opening animation.
