Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
It just boggles my mind why the developers would say that Battle of Z graphics are limited due to the console's hardware when games like Grand Theft Auto V that are much bigger can achieve huge areas (+ more stuff going on) but a Dragon Ball Z game can't?
To bring this up then it makes me wonder if Tenkaichi 3 could have had bigger arenas because GTA SA was also a pretty damn big game.
I know it's two entirely different games but in terms of wide space it shows that it could've been made possible.

Considering this game probably didn't even have a fraction of GTAV's budget I'm not sure that's a fair comparison to make.dbboxkaifan wrote:It just boggles my mind why the developers would say that Battle of Z graphics are limited due to the console's hardware when games like Grand Theft Auto V that are much bigger can achieve huge areas (+ more stuff going on) but a Dragon Ball Z game can't?

SSJ2 Vegeta's Galick Blaze can make the game lag by itself.

I'm not going to support a game that's widely considered to suck. The more purchases a crappy game gets, the less motivated the developer will be to improve their next game.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Yeah, but thatDBZguy said that he liked the demo. You wanna know another game that the general audience widely considered to suck, when it came out? Super Dragon Ball Z. The less purchases a promising game that YOU even liked gets, the less chances that the developer will get the chance to make a better one.thatdbzguy wrote:I'm not going to support a game that's widely considered to suck. I'm not trying to tell you what you to do but you're going against yourself there, for the sake of general opinion and random reviewers.

gta 5 is not 60fps, sometimes barely 30. Also, interactions are different, in gta 5 you can shoot or drive, in boz the system must calculate teleports, everyone's special move at the same time (could happen), flying at high speed etc, i think that's why. I'm not an expert, but this should be the reason.dbboxkaifan wrote:It just boggles my mind why the developers would say that Battle of Z graphics are limited due to the console's hardware when games like Grand Theft Auto V that are much bigger can achieve huge areas (+ more stuff going on) but a Dragon Ball Z game can't?

I'm aware that I already made two posts concerning this, but I am incredibly frustrated at the fact that you can unlock two variants of "Perfect Cells," one just has flashier graphics than the other and is a bit stronger, and even a nameless "Frieza Soldier," but not the "Frieza Saga Vegeta" who appears frequently in the Story Mode. Can anybody tell me why this is acceptable?

It's not, but then again, a lot of things in regards to Dragon Ball games aren't acceptable. You will just have to deal with it though.TheBalishChannel wrote:Can anybody tell me why this is acceptable?

To think this game was dubbed "Plan to conquer the World" and all the hype that went into the facebook page... SMH what a disaster.

Its ironic, the more and more the games tried to capture the feel of the show, the worse they got.goku the krump dancer wrote:To think this game was dubbed "Plan to conquer the World" and all the hype that went into the facebook page... SMH what a disaster.

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
I got the game today. I started enjoying it at first, but the further I played it, the more I became disappointed. Quick question. Am I the only one here who is annoyed by the fact that there is a time limit?
In my opinion, this game has so many flaws. It feels like the company that made it combined Raging Blast 2 and Ultimate Tenkaichi together, and changed all the controls and stuff around to the point where they said, "Here's your game, Dragon Ball fans. Make sure to give us all the negative reviews you can."
Right now, after playing several hours of the game, I feel like the Angry Video Game Nerd.

I dont even think its that because I loved Tenkaichi 2 and 3, hell Tenkaichi 1 was alright (at best) for its time imo. I even loved the Dragon Rush from Budokai 3 which I believe was supposed to help make it feel more like the show as repetitive as it was. That along with the stage bumps, cinematic ultimates and pretty planet explosions helped make Budokai 3 feel more like the show as well.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Its ironic, the more and more the games tried to capture the feel of the show, the worse they got.goku the krump dancer wrote:To think this game was dubbed "Plan to conquer the World" and all the hype that went into the facebook page... To me, they started fucking up when we hit the PS360 era, for some odd reason both Dimps and Spike thought it was a great idea to "start fresh" and try to work everything from the ground up again which was not only stupid but completely unnecessary.
But I guess that mentality came from the fact that they were almost done when it came to implementing characters and if DBZ games were supposed to continue up to the point where we are now they were going to eventually run out of things to include which would force them to be creative.

Any of you fine chaps know how to unlock Ginyu, 2nd, 3rd, and 100% Final Form Freeza? Having a bit of trouble. Also, can someone tell me how to revive people again? I don't feel like going through that tutorial. I'm on PS3, too. PM me your PSN name. I'd love to play with you guys. I have no mic, if you guys are cool with that.

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
What "odd reason"?. They were dealing with new hardware and the whole point of transitioning to next-gen consoles is to give a brand new, fresh experience with updated visuals the previous consoles cannot handle. That requires redoing everything from scratch. This isn't something strange or questionable they did. All game developers did that.goku the krump dancer wrote:To me, they started fucking up when we hit the PS360 era, for some odd reason both Dimps and Spike thought it was a great idea to "start fresh" and try to work everything from the ground up again which was not only stupid but completely unnecessary.
The REAL issue was the fact that Namco Bandai kept making these companies produce these cheap liscensed games under such short development times just so they could churn these out annually. Considering how more intricate these new systems were and how more difficult it seemed to make games for them, those games were pretty much doomed. Hell, even when we did see RB2, an actual sequel built up from a previous title, it still felt like they didn't have enough time to make it more polished than it turned out to be.
It also seems we're dealing with a new problem now. Even though I think Battle of Z is okay, it's obviously not exactly a product you'd expect from a lengthier amount of development time that apparently it receive. It's definitely more functional and refined than games like RB1(which was blatantly unfinished and broken), but If I had to guess as to why it still turned out rather average, I assume it's because of the low-budget they had to deal with. Sales have been declining over the years and Dragon Ball Z isn't exactly mainstream anymore, so obviously stuff like its video games are going to get more and more cheaply made so they can still make a profit from them. For once we got a new title that had the luxury of having more time to get produced, but sadly we were still shortchanged due to how cheap this product was.

Bandai has to have know this was not the way to go with DBZ. Next game needs to be Burst Limit 2/Budokai 4, Tenkaichi 4/RB 3 or Super DBZ 2. A zenkai port might work or even a Super smash bros style DBZ game.

Try it yourself and form your own opinion based on your own experiences. There is no objective or definite answer to what you're asking.Son Edo wrote:So... Does the game suck?
I think you're missing the point. Those sequels will never be made, with Battle of Z they've deliberately gone in a different direction, as to not retrace past past avenues were never a winning combination of financial and critical success.miguelnuva1 wrote:Bandai has to have know this was not the way to go with DBZ. It's more likely that they'll abandon the franchise before resorting to revisiting those past mechanics.

Add more and more characters, all of them with the same moves and one unique Super Attack, and you've got Dragon Ball Heroes, the most popular DBZ game since 2010.goku the krump dancer wrote:But I guess that mentality came from the fact that they were almost done when it came to implementing characters and if DBZ games were supposed to continue up to the point where we are now they were going to eventually run out of things to include which would force them to be creative.
