Jeez, what a bad couple of weeks. First I learn about ThatGuyWithTheGlases reviewer Jew Wario committing suicide, and now I learn about this? Holy cow...

I wouldn't worry about Masako Nozawa losing her vitality though. If anything, her time in the booth is probably the most therapeutic thing for her, since it allows her to enter the mindset of happy-go-lucky Goku, and escape from the world for a bit. I mean, that's how Sean Schemmel feels when voicing Goku, so I imagine it'd be the same for her.

Is there any sort of donation/tribute service up yet? I don't have much but I figured at least something would help.

Masako's husband?!!! Noooooo. :( I don't think I'm familiar with any of his roles, I probably will be at some point as I'm watching One Piece (Skypiea arc).

I was just thinking in a black-comedy sort of way, that this might be (God forbid) a terrible year for seiyuu, and then I read on the Anime News Network talkback thread that Masaaki makes the fourth seiyuu to pass away this month. Sad start to the new year for the Japanese animation industry. :(

Anyway, very sad unexpected news, R.I.P. Masaaki Tsukada, condolences to Masako and their family and friends from Michigan, USA.

He was Toto (Kohza's father) back at Alabasta.

Yeesh, this has been a terrible week. My heart goes out to Nozawa-san and her family. Rest in peace, Tsukada-san.

Last year we lost Toto's English va Jerry Russell as well. He also played Crocus there.

Did Mr. Tsukada and Ms. Nozawa have any children?

Aww man. :( I mainly knew his work for Yamamoto (I've seen the Lupin stuff he was in, but honestly can't remember those characters off the top of my head), but this is still really sad for Nozawa's sake. As was said earlier, it's great that he got to live so long and I'm sure they had many a good time together over the years, but still very sad for him to pass away already. Godspeed Mr. Tsukada.
