Faulconer Music Liked More With Lyrics Possibly?

Post by Super Sonic » Thu Jan 30, 2014 2:25 am

Was thinking lately do you think the Faulconer music would've been liked more if they had lyrics, or perhaps insert songs with lyrics? For example, know quite a few folks who didn't like the Sailor Moon dub for the first 2 seasons, but they loved the songs it had, like Carry On, Power of Love, Oh Starry Night, etc. Heck, quite a few guys say that while the season 1 finale was hacked, they prefer the final battle playing Carry On rather than Moonlight Legend as while they like it as the theme, it didn't work as a battle song. Also know pretty much everyone loves the songs Pokemon had from the 2 B A Master soundtrack, so was thinking guys might've liked if done for DBZ?

To be honest, if done well, it could work,
But generally I like the instrumentals better.

There's a song called "Spell It Out" by Mike Shinoda, which uses a remix to the Perfect Cell theme.
Let me first say that I like this remix better the actual song. That being said, I think it sounds a lot better without the lyrics.

That's just me though.

Vocal music is more popular. So from that perspective yes.

On the other hand, I don't think singing the melodies would necessarily be that great of an idea since most of the Faulconer tunes don't lend them selves to that. The rap approach in Spell it out was really cool :) but wouldn't work for everything.

How well did the Android CD do? Not great I don't think, though I do have to say I love hearing my melody sung by Meredith Mcoy...even if it is Bruce's lyrics+arrangement. That's not an easy melody to sing, I'm impressed she did that.

I've always really liked that song for some reason, but I'd agree, not very many of the songs would really lend themselves that well to lyrics. There's probably a few that could be done in the same vein as that mix though.

I've always heard that it was also her on the CD cover, any truth to that that you're aware of?

Bakuten Shoot Beyblade's English dub had a handful of actual songs produced for it in addition to the completely new score; they were never more effective and interesting than when they're first used. I don't see DBZ's dub suddenly having insert themes and the disconnect between Faulconer fans and Kikuchi fans somehow getting smaller.

I mean, don't some of the movies technically qualify for attempting this, with their "scores" just being songs from various bands?

I think if Faulconer Prod. made lyrical themes they would've been great and more memorable to fans.

Mark Akin made a lyrical theme for The History of Trunks and it was great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdcYrKAiwb0

Mike Smith singing:

Me singing (with tons of pitch correction):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRRLELM25zc (uhh...another track I never finished. Another failed vocal track...I'm not cut out for lyrics really)

Bruce fancied himself good at lyrics. meh.... I've never heard him sing seriously. He hires people to do that for him (not knocking him for it either)

Personally, I wouldn't have been excited about doing lyrical songs. Maybe something imitating the fun J-Pop tunes in DBZ...and would have hired someone to sing of course :)

I have no idea about Julius. I've never heard him sing or even talk about vocals.
