Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
Since our announcement we have had it confirmed by TOEI Animation (The Licensor) that the masters being used for our release will be those used in Australia by Madman Entertainment. At the time of our announcement this had not been confirmed to us.
- Stemming from this confirmation, we can now confirm that the episode breakdown for the 5 box sets will be:
Season 1: Episodes 1-28 (The Emperor Pilaf and First World Martial Arts Championship sagas)
Season 2: Episodes 29-57 (Red Ribbon Army and General Blue sagas)
Season 3: Episodes 58-83 (Commander Red and Fortune Teller Baba sagas)
Season 4: Episodes 84-122 (Tien Shinhan and King Piccolo sagas)
Season 5: Episodes 123-153 (Piccolo Jnr. saga Parts 1 and 2)
- The first 4 Seasons will each be 4-discs sets, where as Season 5 will be a 6-disc box set.
- The UK box sets will be branded as "Season" sets, not "Collection" or "Saga" sets. This is to follow the same pattern of releases that we have implemented for Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. The reason for keeping them as "Season" sets is to ensure there no confusion with the box sets in retail. We appreciate that fans of the series wouldn't be confused if presented differently, but we want to make sure that everyone has complete clarity when it comes to the presentation of the box sets.
- The information and artwork designs being shown on online retailer listings will be updated accordingly to reflect the above.
You can pre-order all 5 season box sets of Dragon Ball today from Amazon UK at http://amzn.to/1dWW6kC
If you have any questions on the above information please feel free to ask.
Kind regards.

I'm guessing the Dragon Ball film will be on "Season" 5.
Gyt Kaliba wrote:Oh wow, they used different art for Season Five. Strange, the Z sets also had one cover that was slightly different...wonder what's up with that.
Yeah dunno what's up with that but this time they shouldn't have touched what wasn't broken.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

FUNimation released the Saga Sets through DB Singles which you can find for cheap on Amazon.com.
The difference is that the Saga Sets include the original Japanese credits and it's uncropped whereas the Blue Bricks are zoomed in & no Japanese credits.

The Saga sets only have English titled end credits.
Looks like I'll be buying these, shame they changed Season 5's cover. However, Manga UK did change season 8 of DBZ back to it's original cover so I guess it could change by the time it's released.
Now let's hope they release the movies and (although I think it's quite unlikely) the Dragon Box DVD sets.
PSN - Huw_Shakugan
Xbox - HuwEVA01

Just a quick reminder that the cover art is still subject to change. Like they added the original logo to the GT sets and completely changed the disk art. Season 5 cover art change is weird but not final, they just have to be reminded by the fans to change it back.
And judging by their use of the original logo in their post, that's already something that will be improved.
The use of the Saga sets footage might be exciting.

It's been a while since I sold my World Tournament and Ten Shinhan saga releases (back when I was utterly convinced that we'd be getting Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes), but I seem to recall the Saga sets having branching on both the openings and end credits.
Noticed a while ago that this is also on Zavvi/TheHut but their prices right now are £34.99 for each set, I do expect that they'll drop down to £22.50 or less to attract costumers to pre-order it.
Zavvi has the advantage of discount codes so people can get it slightly cheaper than on Amazon, that is if the price is comparable to Amazon's.

The Saga-sets did indeed have alternate angles for the endings... But the Japanese angle was creditless. There was no alternate angle for the intro, it was the same creditless footage regardless of whether you watched it in Japanese or English. They did have both English and Japanese title-cards though, which was omitted from the Seasons... Though I seem to recall hearing that these alternate angles did not carry over into the Australian release, which by extension means that the UK release also will not have them...?
Fizzer wrote:Do these have the second opening and other three endings then?
I can confirm with 99,999% certainty that they will not. FUNi never had those. And seeing how Madman's release was based off FUNi's, and these UK-sets are just Madman's encodes... yeah they won't be on there.
Looks like I'll be picking these up, and if they don't change the cover art I'm sure someone can photoshop a different one. I've never seen DB in it's entirety and have only read so far into the manga, so these can't come quick enough!

Alternate angles were used for the title cards, but not the ending credits. Unlike the US release, the Japanese title cards would only show up if the corresponding audio was selected from the menu.
