Having listened to Fighting Stars in the entirety: if I have an issue with the lyrics of Fighting Stars it is that there aren't enough references to the titles within the game. What are the chances of ever hearing a song about all of these different characters and settings, after all? Still, the triumphant aura of the piece is very much what one would appreciate from such a first foray into the crossing-over of music. Perhaps there is too much guitar work. I think casting a wider net during the majority of the song would have yielded better results.

They got Freeza's name right in this game: http://www.bandaigames.channel.or.jp/li ... /ch36.html
But, "Hyskoa"? Is that even a proper romanization? http://www.bandaigames.channel.or.jp/li ... /ch31.html

Well, if the pat-pat test is inconclusive, you've gotta resort to other methods. Seems reasonable to me. :P

Would totally make that joke but it's beneath even him, which is saying quite a bit.

I think it's very possible, given that this is Japan, they meant to write "Hysoka", made a typo, and it got all the way past whatever quality control there was to the character's page.

Yes. It's only coming out in Japan, and there's zero reason to release it for the Xbox 360 in Japan.

Great Villain choices so far- fun ones to fight at the very least.

I love perspective.
Shnuki wrote:If they were to put Kenshiro in, they would have to make several new animations of exploding heads and other body parts for all the other characters. Or they could just not put those effects in and make him a generic martial artist, making him totally uninteresting.

The game would also had to receive a higher age rating.
I do think suspension of disbelief here would be a big deal.
Wobbuffet wrote: Also, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Nura. Konami has the rights to publish games of these series. Yugi appeared in Jump Ultimate Stars, but that was manga Yugi. And the characters in J-Stars Victory VS are based on their anime counterparts.
I guess so, given that the three spin-offs sequels are NAS-produced and Konami makes the games for them. Just weird considering that there would be almost no difference between the two versions of the character.

Is the release date of this game March 19, 2014? And is there any news of a demo?

It's such a shame that this isn't getting a western release it's just Battle Stadium D.O.N all over again. Sure this time PlayStation is able to play games from any region but it'd have been nice to get it with English translations/menus and not having to import it (and who knows if there'd be a custom tax fee in top of it).

Just pre-ordered the Anison Sound Edition at Ami Ami. It was far cheaper than Play Asia.
Either that or I did something wrong...

The chances of this game ever being localized are literally 0%. If you really want it your best bet is to just import it.
I pre-ordered the Vita version from PlayAsia for around $60, not too bad.

sorry saw some of the posts a few pages back and thought it might be going PS4 as well but unlikely given how much time they have been working on it

My worry-ness is if I'll get hit by the customs for an additional fee, because the probability is high due to the price but otherwise I'd happily import.

I'll just wait and see if it pops up a UK seller selling it.

I'm still rather disappointed that Shaman king, Yugioh and Ultimate Muscle aren't going to be represented at all.
(They could have done Yugi like SSBB's pokemon trainer: Summon Dark Magician/Dark Magician Girl and you play as them)
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Relax, the game isn't out yet, and the complete roster isn't announced yet.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I'd also put in Fist of the North Star to that too (though DBZGTKOSDH is right).

I mean, you gotta reunite 1987 Shonen Jump:

Kinnikuman, Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure were all ongoing at some point in 1987 (with Kinnikuman ending in 1987 and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure starting in 1987). That truly is the most manly awesome, Battle Shonen-iest year ever.

Luckily for Kinnikuman, he even came back in recent years, as after the sequel we got as Ultimate Muscle ended, the creators returned to the old cast (and it's ongoing I believe).

But yeah, I'm also down for some Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh!; maybe if they're short on spots, but bring in Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Yugi can be in Bobobo's ultimate attack:

That'd make me a happy man.

I wonder if a third party might provide a homebrew translation patch, much like the on-going Tales of Vesperia one. Surely a fighter would be an easier game to translate, I can't imagine there'd be a huge amount of text.

That being said I'm not really sure how big the demand for this game is going to be outside of Japan, and whether or not people will even be bothered about a translation.
