To think that it took 30 years to meet Goku's mother.
Still, better late than never right?

If it's supplemental Jaco material, I hope Viz can get it in their online Shonen Jump...

Gine, huh? At least we got the name pun without having to wait.

True. I guess if Vegeta is the star of the next potential movie, maybe we'll finally get his mother in some following interview (or maybe a flashback in the film) too.

Could she still be alive? If she wasn't cut out for fighting, maybe they sent her to the same place as Tarble after she delivered Goku. She'd be pretty old, though I suppose it would be an interesting chance for Nozawa to voice a Dragon Ball character in her natural voice. :)

Wow, was not expecting anything like that. I guess she would have to look something like Raditz. If Goku was toddler sized in Jaco, than perhaps there is a chance of a slightly-older-than-toddler Raditz...?

Thanks for posting! I'm really excited to learn about Goku's mother and the Saiyan woman in general.

I just got the mental image of a wild haired Saiyan lady taking her five year old to space kindergarten. Thank you. :P

I've got it! Raditz was at space kindergarten when Planet Vegeta blew up.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of fanfiction writers cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Anyway, this is quite interesting. It may not be as widespread nowadays, but think this will finally put the stupid "Selypa was Goku's mom" fan-theory to rest?

Selypa was Goku's mom's sister. :P

It'd be funny if she turns out to also look exactly like Goku, like Millhouse's parent's from The Simpsons.

Well then...I stand corrected. That does just make Bardock a huge jackass in regards to Goku (until the whole vision thing started). lol

Also, it says she is too nice for fighting. So she's too nice to be suited for fighting, but that doesn't mean she was born with a low battle power. So. I wonder if that means she's weak too, like Tarble?
Maybe, maybe not.
If we look at Goku he was a fighting genius! So, it is possible that his mother could have been strong as well. Well... for the average Saiyan that is.

This is awesome news! Thanks so much for the info! :D I hope she ends up looking like Fasha

Edit - I thought her name was Fa-sha? I wished stuff like that wouldn't get auto corrected :? I hate Funimation for getting me all confused! I never knew people claimed that she was Goku's mom! I just want her to look like her lol

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Fa-sha is a dub exclusive name for the character that doesn't even fit the pun. Se ly pa= Pa se ly, or "Parsley". Saiyans are named after veggies.

I don't know if I'd like her and Goku to interact :? Maybe have her in a flashback?

That's very interesting! Why not?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Hmmmm.....well, I guess TFS called it on Selypa.

Joking aside, I'm glad Toriyama decided to clear this up. Now I'm interested to know what she looks like.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Oh I forgot to add ''Why I wouldn't want them to interact'' Because it just really wouldn't make sense would it? How would that even happen? Would Goku finely meet Bardock as well? Would the two still be together in the after life? :P
