Even though I haven't got my Blu-ray in yet, from what I've seen I think they're better than the orange bricks. I never want to watch them again!(That's why I gave them to my brother) When lines starts disappearing it drives me up the wall! :P I have seen these are a little bright but whatever :?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

No suprises that Season 2 and 3 are currently the best selling anime on Amazon.com.

If they re-release the Dboxes I'm pretty sure they'll sell like hot cakes to.

Well it would still be dependant on price aswell, say about $30 I could see it selling as well as the new season sets.

Also, just contacted Amazon.com and they assured me that Season 2 has been booked for me for February 18th, despite Funimation saying otherwise. :eh:

If FUNimation had the Dragon Box masters in their possession they'd use that rather than the footage they have for this, and with that, you'd get the NEPs too.

I'm guessing the Green GT Bricks are based off the Dragon Box GT but what they've done to it it just doesn't look natural.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

On the GT Green Bricks if you watch Episode 01 for example you'll see that the Eyecatch B jumps quickly back to the episode without even ending properly whereas on the GT Singles it takes its time as it how was originally intended.

For someone that has seen GT in its entirety going now by the Green Bricks will notice how flawed they are.

Does anyone notice that in the recaps on the American music track that the music is different?

Different composer for the first and second season. As FUNImation went back an re-dubbed them uncut. And I think they were on bad terms with B.F (original composer).

I know that Nathan Johnson composed the music for episodes 1 to 67 but I'm talking about the recap theme music played at the beginning of the episode and at the end. It's different than the one on the Orange Bricks. I'm not talking about the Faulconer score though.

Can anyone give me an honest assessment of these Blurays compared to the Dragon Boxes or Level sets in terms of quality?

I am OK w/ them being 16:9 IF and only if the video quality is worth it as I have a 55" Plasma.

Scroll through the thread. The picture quality is pretty abysmal.

You have zero grain at all so they're the complete antithesis of the Dragon Boxes and Level Sets.

Where they've removed the grain, you're left with wavy texture and line art as a result of the grain trying to squeeze its way past the filters.

It's just a smudgy mess. Your TV's quality isn't going to make any difference. It's just a piss poor product that has nothing on the Dragon Boxes or Level Sets bar its colour balance.

Honestly (and many would disagree with me on here) if you want an HD experience of Dragon Ball (without grain mind you and some pretty noticeable faults in the presentation) this is a decent one to take and buy into. I love the cleaned up audio (both Japanese and English) and it sounds terrific on my sound system. I'd buy if you want an HD experience of DBZ. It is far, far, far from perfect though.

I mean, whether Jesus is real or not, he - he's had a bigger impact on the world than any of us have. And the same can be said for Bugs Bunny and - and Superman and Harry Potter. They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

Well that's the issue... seems like there is only 1 way to see DBZ in HD. :(

Well if you are talking about the original DBZ anime then yes we are quite limited. But if you want the general story we do have Kai in 4:3 and it is beautiful. I think with time Funimation will hopefully do good and release a standard 4:3 "Dragon Box" type release for Blu-ray. We just have to be patient but yes I would agree that the current limitations to entry are frustrating.

Hey guys, if anyone out there still wants to purchase DBZ Season 1, I'm selling my copy on eBay and started the bidding at $0.99. I didn't pay for this so, I'm not really losing anything.

If I didn't know anything about Dragonball Z and seen this
''Hey! Do you love DragonBall Z but hate seeing the whole picture? Well this Blu-ray will take care of that! Now you can watch DBZ with 20% of the image taken out! Also - if you ever find yourself tired of being able to see, just watch two or three episodes in a row! The blinding colors will take care of that - no problem!'' I'd be turned off and wouldn't buy it. :P I'd take that out if I was you. it might not sell like that
