Yeah, that's what it sounded like to me. So it sounds like he doesn't actually have a reason for her absence, and is afraid to think of one.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Bulma claims at the beginning of the series that she is gathering the Dragon Balls for a lifetime supply of strawberries, but what she's really going to wish for is for her sister to come back to life. The tragedy of it all is that she never got a chance to make that wish...

Just realized that she can't be dead. We saw that she was alive by the time Bulma begun her adventure, and Bulma never tried to make any wish.medama_oyaji wrote:Bulma claims at the beginning of the series that she is gathering the Dragon Balls for a lifetime supply of strawberries, but what she's really going to wish for is for her sister to come back to life. James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (tankōbon delay
So, we're getting towards the halfway point of December here, and there's still no listing for Jaco the Galactic Patrolman next month. I spoke with a staffmember at the local bookstore yesterday, and in her experience, no listing from the publisher less than a month out from the expected release date means that it probably won't be coming out when they said it would.
The question, then, becomes why it was delayed, and of course, when it will actually be released....

I'm to fall back on my theory that Toriyama has been arm-twisted into creating a little something new for the tankoubon.

Possibly new content? Even just a little bit? Directly from Toriyama? I'll take it! =PJulieYBM wrote:I'm to fall back on my theory that Toriyama has been arm-twisted into creating a little something new for the tankoubon.

On Twitter, Peking Duck is saying that another blogger contacted Shueisha and confirmed that it's been pushed back to April. He's thinking that either they've had a really good year and are holding Jaco back so they have a guaranteed hot property for fiscal 2014–'15, or they're planning on making it a part of the 30th anniversary for the Dragon Ball manga.JulieYBM wrote:I'm to fall back on my theory that Toriyama has been arm-twisted into creating a little something new for the tankoubon.
Some extra content to make up for the wait would be nice, though....

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (tankōbon delay
I definitely wouldn't mind a couple of mini-guidebook pages in the back with some bios on the characters, items and locations like we'd get in the Chozenshu. Maybe another Toriyama Q&A with about half of it dedicated to in-universe Jaco content that he hasn't already addressed, and the other half about the tradition out-of-universe questions (...sorry Julian)?
If they really want to push the man though, I wouldn't mind another chapter (or less) that goes into a little more depth in detailing something from the universe. Perhaps a short detailing Galactic Patrol headquarters and it's members? He could do something simple like Jaco's daily life there before he got his orders to go to Earth, his return to it after the events on Earth or maybe even his application into the organization? I'd take whatever he wanted to draw/they could make him draw really...

Yeah, that definitely sounds like the winning theory there. I wonder if the plan will be for Toriyama to include another prequel to Dragon Ball? Maybe a story that takes place before immediately Gokuu meets Blooma and Blooma meets Gokuu? Well, that's just wishful-thinking on my part.SaiyaJedi wrote:On Twitter, Peking Duck is saying that another blogger contacted Shueisha and confirmed that it's been pushed back to April. Were any of the pages in colour? If not, what if it's being fully coloured, or at least partially.

What a bummer, I've been really looking forward to getting the print volume. Well, I do hope it's got a little something extra to make up for the wait...
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (tankōbon delay
When should we expect a listing for the tankoubon to pop up on CDJapan/Amazon Japan? I wanna snatch this up before it disappears like the Chogashu did.

It was only just listed on Shueisha's site in the last couple days, so I would anticipate it taking a little bit more to pop up across retailers. We'll certainly let folks know when it's upCashmanX wrote:When should we expect a listing for the tankoubon to pop up on CDJapan/Amazon Japan? Not to discourage you from ordering, but I wouldn't be as worried about this one going out of print like the Chogashu. Still, I can't wait to get this asap, so I'll be preordering as soon as that pops up online!

The first episode of the Jaco Vomic is up!
Pretty awesome. The colors look good, and I thought the voice actors were great.

Is this going to match the kanzenbans, like Neko Majin?
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (Tankōbon April
Yeah, this vomic thing is kinda amazing. I hope they'll make it anime, though. Yet, it's already sweet. Like medama_oyaji said, the voice actors are perfectly matched.

I'm excited to get the tankoubon as well and it'll be a day one pre-order when that option becomes available. The vomic was a nice treat and I enjoyed the colorization and voice actors thus far. What a treat!

I feel that the vomic serves to fill the gap of an anime without really necessitating the creation of such a big budgeted production that would likely be way too costly. I agree with your end on the voice actors though.vegeta391 wrote:Yeah, this vomic thing is kinda amazing. I hope they'll make it anime, though. Yet, it's already sweet.
