Your Dragon Ball Holy Grail?

Post by Gonstead » Thu Feb 06, 2014 3:45 am

What is that ONE piece/s of DB merchandise that you want and have been searching for?

NOTE: It must be a real item that does exist. No hypothetical home releases / merchandise are allowed that you hope to own one day.

For me, it is the Jakks Pacific Omega Shenron. I have always wanted one ever since I was a little kid but could never find him due to our stores only ever stocking Wave 1 of the GT line.

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"

DBZ VizBigs, everytime I try to buy them something happens that screws me over. Saiga knows a few of the stories.

Does unofficial stuff count? Because my dream is to get my hands on the Chinese GT manga. I know it's full of tracing and it's GT - so the probably most hated part of the franchise - but I simply love reading manga (watching every anime that isn't Evangelion, Detective Conan or Digimon Tamers is too tedious for me) so the thought of GT in manga form is the best thing I can imagine.

It can probably be bought via Taobao but I just can't manage to use this site (maybe one day I'll do it).

By the way if we could include hypothetical stuff then I'd go with a manga version of Kaboom's GTR or with an English edition of Dragon Ball Heroes manga.

I guess for me it was Dragonbox GT - because I'd wanted it for years but was always out of reach to the point where it almost held mythical status in my eyes. :D

I guess the kanzenbans. I'll get them when either my Japanese is good enough that I can read them, or I have enough money that I can buy 34 books that I can't read.

I need this.

I lost a bid on it the other day. It went for £100 and that's the cheapest I've ever seen it go for.

Fuck, it makes it so upset knowing I'll probably never own it.

I'm sure there's a lot of things I'm not thinking about right now, but the Figuarts SSJ Vegeta. I really hope they re-release that figure. That's if I have to choose one. I would love to get the rest of the Dragon Boxes, because I only have Vol. 5,6, and 7.

The holy grail for me (and for many others I'd imagine) are the original Dragon Boxes released in Japan (and I mean all of them!). I'd only purchase the sets if they were in mint condition and included everything they had when they were original released. I always see one's for sale on Yahoo auctions but but they are missing some components.

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

The Dragon Ball DRAGONBOX. All openings and endings and NEPs.

And, this is probably cheating, but it feels weird to not say the manga as well.

For me it's probably the rest of the Dragon Boxes. I just...gah. Curse my lack of cash at the time, and also the fact that I just couldn't bring myself to double dip so soon after buying the Season Sets. I really want them for the better footage (even though I find the Season Sets bearable unlike most here, even I would rather have the Boxes), the next-time previews, and the Dragon Books, but at this point it's looking like I'll never have them.

Now granted, I do have Box 1 and 5, but the horror stories I hear about pricing for Box 2...*shudder*

For me it's a dragonball z trapper keeper I used to have back in school. I'd love to get it back. :(
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Probably either a complete set of replica Dragon Balls (Nice ones of about the right size, not even 100% sure these exist) or the Japanese Dragon Boxes. I have almost every R1 release I want, but they're missing things that the Japanese sets have that I'd love to have, Dragon Box masters for the first series, the TV specials, and the movies, those PSA specials, and the Gaiden video.

Not really searching but lately I want Dragon Box: The Movies.

The remastering looks so beautiful and especially the audio.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

I've been having trouble finding a copy of the Spanish release of the Neko Majin kanzenban. Once I get that my DB comic collection will be complete.
