Received today a confirmation about the shipment so it'll take 1-2 weeks to get here. Can't wait to hold and be amused by it.

It's also worth noting that it'll be my first manga because I've always been into anime and never mangas.

So they're inferior to the Japanese release... but they're so big! :(

Nothing annoys me more than the comments about "the original Dragon Ball series though". That just seems like a flaw that slipped through, like they can't have realised that was still there or they'd remove it.

Seeing how this is available on Amazon.co.uk for £11.71 there's really not much point importing it so anyway, I really hope Viz releases the entire collection because the quality of these books is gorgeous.

I hate that they chopped off Mister Popo's lips but it's still a great release nevertheless.

Good thing I'm getting rid of the DBGT Boxsets so I'll have space for these big ass books.

So, Viz have made this release available digitally on their app as well. Made some comparisons between the Shonen Jump version and collected volume here: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/61081

I got my copy today. The paper quality and size is really REALLY nice, so it's just sad Viz dropped out on translating the bonus content as well as fixing some of the flaws in their translation. Overall, though, this is one helluva good product. The best I've ever seen them do.

I am so relieved that the font was changed from the weekly digital releases.

Just ordered my own copy and cannot wait to post some impressions. Overall from what I've seen in some previews it does look mighty fantastic I must say though.

INCOMING BITCH ALERT: Sound effects inside speech bubbles are changed. Not a sale deterrent by any means but so close; it's like tripping over the finish line in a race. Yeah, you won, but ouch your face.

That's how Shueisha handled that too; Speech bubbles are a different situation than the actual art.

It's cool that they're labeling the comics "Dragon Ball". But do ever release colorized Dragon Ball over here, then it will be kind of weird having two sets of "Dragon Ball 1-16" and "Dragon Ball 1-26". In that sense, it really would have made sense for them to just call these DBZ again.

But it won't be 1-26, because there are more chapters per volume in the Full Color release. I don't know the exact number, but the volume count should drop somewhat.

They seem to be following the Japanese release so they'll be split by arcs. A smart move IMO in case they decide to go back and publish the first arcs.

I ordered this on December 14, but I forgot about it until now. It shipped today for me, so I should have it by Friday.

EDIT: Okay, I got it today...so sexy.

I just got my hands on this. Wow, this thing is beautiful! I got this in Barnes & Nobels so I paid cover price which was about $20.00, but I didn't mind. I think it was worth it.

Barnes & Noble is a showcase store that was meant for compulsive purchases like this! I would never get anything at Barnes but if I saw the Viz Full Color Comic in my local store (and I didn't already own it) I definitely would have made the same purchase. :) No feeling like having it fresh from the store (as good as Amazon is).

It ends right here, as everyone's training right before we skip ahead to when Nappa and Vegeta arrive. It's actually a pretty good cliffhanger-y place to end a volume.

Quick question: How many volumes approximately will the Artificial Human arc (covering Cell too) and Majin Buu arc be?

Saiyan arc - 3 vols
Freeza arc - 5 vols
Artificial Humans - ? vols
Majin Buu arc - ? vols

I'm really hoping they finish this collection because it's worth buying them all and then we'll get the prequel on full colour too, hopefully.

Well I actually got it, to be honest it looks good, I'm just really disappointed with the lack of cover pages and Toriyama's comment. It was not worth it. You can read the reviews in Amazon.

The Saiyan arc is 51 chapters, which were divided among three volumes.

The Freeza arc is 84 chapters and five volumes.

The Artificial Human arc (Trunks special included) is 92 chapters, which could be five or six volumes depending on how they divide it up.

The Majin Buu arc is 99 chapters, so I would say six volumes.

I hope they finish for the sake of finally getting us the Kanzenban extras in English. They avoided it with the Vizbigs, but they wouldn't be able to do that here.
