The original Legacy of Goku. I just love the sprites, music, quests, everything! I just play it with invincibility on, it makes the game more enjoyable IMO because the combat is so terrible.
I liked Taiketsu when I first played it.

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

I dunno...I think I've actually watched the GBA Video thing for the first two episodes of GT more than I've played Taiketsu, that's how bad that game is. It just...ugh...Travis Touchdown wrote:Seeing as to how I'm a weirdo that likes all these bad DBZ games, I kinda wanna try Taiketsu. I've heard that's the worst DB game ever.
Then again, I'm morbidly curious in eventually playing the Evolution game for PSP (just to hear the voices if nothing else, I seem to recall hearing they got Yuri Lowenthal for Chatku), so who am I to judge.

Dragonball Evolution isn't as bad as its reputation would have you believe. It's basically Shin Budokai Light. It's certainly not anything special, but it is playable without much frustration. That alone gives it an edge over, say, Dragon Power or Taiketsu. I don't believe that the voice cast is credited, but Chatku is almost certainly Yuri Lowenthal. The most interesting thing about the game is the unlockable concept art for the film. A few images even suggest that the movie was, at one point, slightly more loyal to the source material. According to one storyboard, Goku was intended to put a hole through Lord Piccolo at the climax.Gyt Kaliba wrote:I dunno...I think I've actually watched the GBA Video thing for the first two episodes of GT more than I've played Taiketsu, that's how bad that game is. Well that certainly has me more interested in checking it now, thanks for the info. The fact that it's probably somewhat fun to play helps, but also...well, much as I'm not much for Evolution as a film, I would be curious to see that background material to see more about how things may have progressed to the point they got to in the movie itself. Certainly is probably better extras then the movie itself came with.Eddie wrote:Dragonball Evolution isn't as bad as its reputation would have you believe. It's basically Shin Budokai Light. Dragon Ball Evolution on PSP is a great fighting game but that's because it's pretty much Shin Budokai reskinned with some modifications.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Then again, I'm morbidly curious in eventually playing the Evolution game for PSP (just to hear the voices if nothing else, I seem to recall hearing they got Yuri Lowenthal for Chatku), so who am I to judge.
I wish Dimps would come back to develop home console DBZ games.

One below average(which isn't poor btw)review out of many doesn't make the game poorly received by critics.thatdbzguy wrote: 63 on Metacritic.

Still doesn't mean it was received well by critics. LOG 2 got much better review scores.

And then, the user rating is an 8.8. I'd much rather take the opinions of the people who actually play the game to enjoy it rather than those who play it for a paycheck.thatdbzguy wrote:Still doesn't mean it was received well by critics. LOG 2 got much better review scores.

And it doesn't mean that it was poorly received either as you said it was. It was just below average according to the review.thatdbzguy wrote:Still doesn't mean it was received well by critics. LOG 2 got much better review scores.
And as the post above me pointed out. User reviews are normally better and more accurate.
Positive: 19 out of 19
Mixed:0
Negative:0
As you can see the reviews aren't even bad(Using YOUR source). Just average-below average. Mixed reviews. Mixed doesn't mean poorly my friend.Positive: 3 out of 19
Mixed: 13 out of 19
Negative: 3
Honestly reading some of these reviews. It's quite laughable. On the mixed side honestly.
This is an prime example. The same can be said bout COD and we all know how those games get reviewed. What ends up happening is that you'll just punch and kick your way through the game. Sure, you'll change characters and gain access to new special moves, but it's still the same thing over and over. Punch, kick, block. Rinse, lather, repeat.
Re: Critically Panned Dragon Ball Games That You Like
It's probably nostalgia, but I love me some Final Bout. Even today, I could pop it in and go a few rounds without getting frustrated at how "bad" it is (Until I get to Oozaru Bebi).

I love Infinite World, despite bad critic reviews.
Re: Critically Panned Dragon Ball Games That You Like
Legacy of Goku 1 even though it doesn't touch its sequels and can be beat in less than 2 hours. I love the music and how you get to travel snake way and go to HFIL and train with King Kai. I would love for them to remake all 3 LOG games and put them into one long game. For the LOG1 part of story they would obviously have to expand on it and make Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo and Krillin playable too. Also speaking of Buu's Fury am I the only one who liked it better than LOG2?
Final Bout is tolerable because of the roster and music.
Infinite World is probably the most underrated DBZ game ever. It was low budget but was still a great game with great music and was better than the BT/Sparking! trilogy.
Sagas looks like a fun game but I've never been able to play it because it never got a UK release.

DBZ Sagas
Buu's Fury (love that game)
Tenkaichi 1,2, & 3
Raging Blast 1 & 2
Battle of Z
Battle of Z is MUCH more fun if you have someone to play online with. My friend who's just getting into DBZ bought it too, so we're playing together.

If you can get it and grab a friend who enjoys beat-em-up games, play it. It's fun, really, even it's buggy as hell.90sDBZ wrote:Sagas looks like a fun game but I've never been able to play it because it never got a UK release.

Most critics barely played it. In terms of gameplay, it's the best of the Budokai PS2 games.Ryunoko wrote:I love Infinite World, despite bad critic reviews.

And I disagree. LOGII felt more complete while BF felt rushed in some areas and if memory serves right some things were a step down from LOGII.
