Wait, Zantetsuken was banned for having an alternative account? Who was the other "he"?

Makes sense. :P

And what happened and TheGmGoken got temporary banned again?

I don't understand the need to gossip about this stuff. Act according to the rules you agreed to twice prior to registration, and report anything you see that you feel does not live up to those standards.

Other folks' business is other folks' business, not your own.

I don't speak for everyone, of course, but I do imagine that the interest for many folks stems from the fact that there's a sense of ownership and possessiveness that develops when you're involved with something for a long time-- even if you actually own no particular piece of it-- and so people have this innate need to know what's going on with "their" board. They can't see and don't know what's going on behind the scenes, so they try to guess to satiate their curiosities.

Or... it's more simple than that and people are just nosy. I'unno.

The thing of it is, though, I'm totally 100% sure it's never anything that most people want to get involved with anyway. I'm not even a mod and I can guess that.

"Oh boy, it's Friday night and I'm feeling a little schoolmarm-ish. Let's clean up some incomprehensible gibberish and hammer some dickheads."

Yeah, no. Nobody gets excited about cleaning up garbage, mods included. So don't get excited about not knowing what's IN the garbage they clean up, I say. It all stinks anyway, so who cares.

Ignorance is bliss sometimes. Appreciate it, embrace it.

Why the hell is this even a topic? Seriously. Negativeness, etc. O_o

Well, for my part, I'm a gossip whore. So there's that.

I get the fascination with wanting to know why that person was banned, what that guy did, etc. People are indeed just nosy.
New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

For me it's the fact that sometimes when I read Kanzenshuu forums and come across a discussion which I'd consider more then enough ground for a ban (I'm a moderator on some other sites so I'm using my experience here - of course the rules and standards differ from place to place but I'm just thinking "man, I'd ban this guy already several posts ago") and I finally see "Banned" or "Temporarily Banned" written under the member's nickname, I start thinking: "what was it precisely that made the mods finally ban him? He could post so many things I'd consider unacceptable, spoil so many discussions and he got banned only now. I wonder what was the straw the broke the camel's back?" I won't post names but that happened very recently with one of the members - I have been watching him for some time and I admit to feeling relieved when he got banned.

It could also be that people don't typically get banned here unless it's for a really extreme reason (I don't mean the mods are lenient...I mean people here are pretty well-behaved). So if someone gets a temp-ban here, there's sometimes an interesting story attached.

Well we are on a public forum. I'm sure the people who are banned don't mind. As I honestly don't.

Ah, then I don't know. I've never saw you being a repeated offender so I don't know if you've been banned twice.

Sorry for bad wording, I didn't mean that you were banned again, for a 2nd time. The "again" was used like "what was his name again?".

Are banned users still able to browse the website and forum? Or are they completely unable to access the site?

If somebody who isn't logged in can browse both, why couldn't a banned user do the same (or just log out and browse)?

When a user is permanently banned, their specific IP range is banned from the entirety of the server. This is noted in the rules.

Make your choices very carefully when you become a member. The forum is a part of the website just like the podcast is a part of the website. If you get any value from anything on the entire website as a whole, act according to the community rules (which you agree to twice prior to registration) and be an awesome person.

Now that is horrible and unfair - it is quite common in Poland for Internet providers to use shared IPs for a huge number of people. For example I share my IP with like several thousand other people and should someone else (for example my neighbour or someone living in the next block of flats [there are 200 families living in the one where I live and quite possibly most of them have the same IP as I do]) register on Kanzenshuu and get banned, I'd also lose my access to the site... Please rethink that because it seems to me to do more harm then good...

Please remember that I've been running my website since 1998. I've dealt with a lot of this garbage and have solutions that work for the benefit of the community.

If a couple people in Poland can't visit the site, but it keeps unbelievable filth and vitriol from coming back and wreaking havoc, then OK. I'm willing to accept that.

(Most horrible people aren't willing to put in the effort to use VPNs consistently to come back and attempt garbage, so that's never been a concern. There's not much correlation between "legitimate troll" and "technologically sophisticated Internet user".)

I am at least personally very well aware of how this kind of networking works, but all I can say is, "Sorry, too bad, we had to" for someone it negatively affects. Take it up with your shitty neighbor should that happen! :(
