The episodes themselves are grainy just like the Japanese version so it probably just changed to the English angles within the OP/Title/Eyecatch/ED/NEP and I assume the fault is due to using DVD5 discs for every single volume.

With DVD9s we'd have better results but even then the US Dragon Boxes Z also suffer of compression.. FUNimation prefers quantity over quality. :?
