Darn, don't know if I can watch the trailer, at my local library, some computers are super fast, and some....not so much. I got the latter today. :?

Nope, it works.

It was a good trailer, Tapions voice was done really well, and Hoi's also. I figured that Gotenks had a single voice because, since it was a trailer, not all of the voices are recorded yet.(That may be just my hopes speaking.) But aren't Goten and Kid Trunks done by the same person, I was watching the Movie 10 dub, and while Goten and Gohan were firing at Broly, Goten said "What are we gonna do?! I wish dad was here!" and he sounded a lot like Kid Trunks. Oh, and Goku dragged out that "Dragon Fire" way too long. "Dragon Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...ire

No, Goten and Trunks are voiced by Kara Edwards and Laura Bailey, respectively.

Also, all the voice acting for the movie has been recorded for almost two years, according to Kyle Hebert (Teen-Adult Gohan's voice actor). Funimation's just been dragging this out.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. But hey, elongated screaming kinda comes with the DBZ package for the most part..

Oh yeah, man. I know what you mean. Remember in the English dub of Freeza saga episode, when Goku uses Kamehameha for the first time, while being voiced by Sean Schemmel? It went something like this: "Kkkkkaaaahhhhhhhhhh- *Grunt* Mmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeggghhhh- *Grunt*Hhhhhaaaaaaghmmmmeeh *Grunt* *Grunt* *Grunts some more* -Ha!"
When I first saw that back in '99, I thought "WTF!? Did Goku just went into labor or somethin'?"
Hell, Chris Psaros, while reviewing that particular episode on DBZUncensored, described it as Goku "trying to push out a huge dump."

It shall forever be known as the Kamehame-Ha Dump. >_>; Since that day, Sean's been overdoing Goku's grunts and shouts, really.

Say it like it is, Tsukento!

Heh. As a matter of fact, pretty much all the other members of the season 3+ voice cast (besides just Mr. Schemmel) have been doing so. With every punch that the characters throw, and with every energy blast that they fire, the characters in the FUNi dub of DBZ seem to have a mandatory obligation to make a grunt. And it gets painfully annoying, man. These over-exagerated fighting sounds get especially distracting during the battle sequences, when the characters fire streams of Ki blasts at once (in Japanese, I think it's called "Renzoku Dan", or something), or throw series of punches and kicks, and all while hearing those FUNimation's voice actors going "Hgh, hgh, hgh, hngh".

Now don't get me wrong, even the original Japanese version of DBZ, and the Ocean dub of the first 2 seasons and 3 movies contained some degree of grunts during the fighting scenes. But sure as hell ain't on the same level as the FUNi dub. And unfortunately, this problem with the over acting has lasted from the season three, and all the way till the very end.

Atrocious. Plain and simply, atrocious.

I totally agree about the constant grunting. It's embarassing. I haven't watched the FUNi dub in a long time since the TV airings, but I was sampling some of the dub on my DB 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai DVDs (Piccolo Jr. Saga). Even though it's probably their best DB-related dub, they still had the VAs grunting and gasping during scenes that were either silent or much quieter in the original.

It's a damn shame, because I know the FUNi VAs are talented and are above this. Usually, the script writer or ADR director has a say in how a line is delivered (or in this case, how much grunting/gasping has to be done)...

They've gotten a little bit better with the recent DBZ movie dubs, though.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

That's very unfortionate that they changed the name of the attack for the movie.

Some inconsistencies I can remember:

Recoome Eraser Gun - Recoome Breath Blast attack

Masenko-ha - Kameya-meya

Wolf Fang Fist - Power of the Wolf

Tri-Beam - Blast Cannon (Budokai video games)

Masenko-ha - Power Beam (Movie three: The Tree of Might)

Of course all of those were in some way because of the cast change, so this is much more frustrating.

Edit: Thank you for linking the trailer, Catterix2006, the website has not updated on my computer yet.

That looks backwards.

"Kikoho" translates to "Ki Cannon" so alter the first word and you have the Budokai version.

"Tri-beam" is some horribly concocted butchering, but Blast Cannon sits fine with me.

I was writing it with what name Funimation uses most often as their definative "translation" first, with a second name not used as much second. But yes, Blast cannon is a much more acurate version. Especially since half the time the Tri-Beam isn't a beam.

Personally, I just wish they would pick a side. Even when he uses his ultimate move in Budokai 3, he yells "Tri-Beam" instead of the Blast Cannon name that they chose for his death move.

*Sigh* Sometimes I wish Viz would dub DBZ.(But then again, we don't want Goku saying "Believe it!" every 2 seconds :? ) But oh well, Funi does a decent job, a lot better than 4kids. And I have learned to cope with any mistakes the dub makes by just buying the DVD and watching the original. That way I can finally know what Vegeta REALLY said when he made that "house" comment...

Anywhoo, does anyone know if they removed Tapions song? I hope not...

They did.

And I have to love FUNi because they give us the original version. That's more than we can say for 4Kids and I don't think Viz does it as much, or at least, they still release edited DVDs with dub only.

From my understanding, they kept it as a flute thing, but it's a different piece of music every time he plays it. Which is not only a waste of time on their part, but also just plain retarded. If I can't remember anything else about movie 13, I will still probably be able to whistle that ocarina song when I'm 80. Geez, you just gotta wonder some days what sort of inebriated bollwevil Funimation has making these sorts of decisions.

Why are y'all surprised that Tapion's ocarina solo has been changed in the dub? After all, FUNi also changed Gohan's catchy whistling tune in movie # 4 too. After they've done that, it shouldn't have come as surprising that they'd changed even the ocarina music in movie # 13. Just like Stephen King himself once said, "Same shit, different day."

Cause sometimes we don't know what is coincided background music and what is coincided a sound effect. All the original Japanese sound effects are left in.

Thank God for that, eh? Can you imagine what dubbed DBZ would be like if it didn't incorporate the original sound effects? The Kamehameha would probably rip through the air with a phaser beam noise, and Super Saiyan auras would probably sound like wind chimes.

At any rate, even after all the unfortunate news of the Movie 13 dub that has come through here, I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

I gave up on the dub a long time ago. The first time I watched the original Japanese version of DragonBall I said goodbye to the dub for good right then and there. So, even if they did improve the dub to my liking, I still wouldn't watch it so it doesn't matter what Funimation does to it to me. I just want the original version of this movie on DVD. I have seen clips of this movie and it looks awesome. 8)
