Was that incorporated into the character for the 28th Tenka'ichi Budokai? I do seem to remember either Trunks of Goten having to cancel a date for the tournament, but I've never paid much attention to that little segment of the story, to be honest.Gyt Kaliba wrote:It's even funnier when you consider that Goten is the one that grows up into a date-crazy guy. Super Saiyan God Goku is stronger than U. Gohan, yes. But Vegeta is only stated to surpass Goku (before God), while nothing in the movie says that SS3 Goku is stronger than U. Gohan or SS Gotenks. Now, go watch the movie!Sanity's_Theif wrote:So he is stronger than Goku? That's what I get from it, and I'm talking about Goku in SSJ God form + SSJ added on or whatever I heard about, and from what you described, it definitely sounds like Goku and Vegeta are the strongest now, it seems pretty clear, they hurt Beerus and the rest couldn't so it obviously means they have the power to hurt him while the rest don't, I don't believe Dragonball ever incorporated complicated runarounds for power, it's a simple kids show
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Yeah, it's definitely still there in the manga and anime at that end portion of Z. A lot of people tend to attribute it to GT since it dealt with it more (and may have flanderdized that aspect too), since that's really just a tiny portion of Z. Kind of the same way a lot of fans think of Pan and Oob as GT characters more than Z ones.Duo wrote:Was that incorporated into the character for the 28th Tenka'ichi Budokai? Doesn't make him date crazy at all. All we know is that he had a date already planned, and was made to go to something else without any consideration for his current plans. His reaction is pretty much any normal person's, and having a date at that age doesn't seem to be anything special.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

His having that date in particular doesn't make him date crazy, no, but I seem to recall there being an implication that it was just one of many dates that he had all the time. I could be misremembering though, or that could even be a dub only thing.

All I really remember is that he had a date planned. I don't remember any implied meanings to multiple dating.

Well it would have done better with a better dub.
The voice acting was pretty... crappy.
The voices were too generic, the only voice i really liked was King Kai, the rest was just forgettable.

While #5 is a great spot for it to get to, I'm somewhat depressed to see it falling behind something like Walking with Dinosaurs, ack.

A lot of people didn't go see it because of the voice acting. People missed the old cast, and while Goku & Freeza were dead... a lot of the old cast was still avaiable.Gyt Kaliba wrote:While #5 is a great spot for it to get to, I'm somewhat depressed to see it falling behind something like Walking with Dinosaurs, ack.
People just didn't felt it was necessary to change EVERYONE.
It didn't help that the voice actor for Vegeta was rejected for the movie!
He even made a funny video about it because he felt betrayed and didn't want to leave his beloved character.
http://youtu.be/mPpPLOGDwBY
Which fucking sucks, Vegeta had the best voice acting in the series, and now in the new movie his voice is IDENTICAL to Goku.
It sucks, like i said, i have never seen more generic voices for a dub ever.

Wow that's a shame that it had to all transpire like that. Sorry that I have not been keeping up with the Italian release but have there been any explanations of why they went with such a generic and vocally poor cast? What were the politics behind such a decision?Flame Dragon wrote:Well it would have done better with a better dub.

They used the cast from the first DBZ Movies Italian Dub. That's because Rai got the movies first in Italy from Lucky Red, but the anime series was then bought later by Mediaset, who used their own cast. Now that a lot of Mediaset VAs are dead, i guess they didn't bother buying any of the new stuff.RocktheDragon wrote:Wow that's a shame that it had to all transpire like that. And i gotta say the Mediaset cast was far superior, while the direction and script was kinda bad, and there was a lot of censoring, at least every character felt really unique and had an appropriate voice.
You could feel Goku's naivety and you could feel Vegeta's pride just from the delivery. Even minor characters sounded really good.
Now the new voices are not horrible, they are just... boring. Everyone sounds the same. I especially can't find the difference between Goku and Vegeta, they sound almost like the same person! The only memorable voice was King Kai i feel, the rest was extremely forgettable.
The old Vegeta voice actor even tried to get in the movie and was rejected.
Then he made a video to say how disappointed he was.
I think it would have been better to get the old anime cast with replacements for the dead, but whatever, i don't know if there is a rivalry between Mediaset and Lucky Red or something...

Nope, but you just reminded me that it's something I should do sometime very soon. Would be good Spanish practice for the wife.tinlunlau wrote:So has anyone managed to rewatch BoG dubbed in Spanish or Portugese through netflix (via hola app) yet?

Is the spanish dub any good? I'd imagine I would enjoy it more than japanese with english subtitles. It would be even better with english subtitles even though I'm pretty sure there isn't one with it.
Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

Spanish dub was okay from what I can tell. I'm not exactly fluent...at all..xmysticgohanx wrote:Is the spanish dub any good? I'd imagine I would enjoy it more than japanese with english subtitles. It would be even better with english subtitles even though I'm pretty sure there isn't one with it.
So I am judging from what I hear. The Spanish Kaioh sounds incredibly close to the Japanese counterpart.
I rewatch my English subtitled bluray disc every once in a while. Though I switch on the Chinese subs more than I do with English.
The world is your's.
