Re: Buu Saga Kai
...Hmm...maybe I'm just being optimistic, but this seems like a prank on Chris Sabat's part. He's been known to do stuff like that to his co-workers even as far as a few years ago (such as the whole "Kazoo" fiasco with him and Sean). And the dude would actually prank call people, switching between sounding like himself and sounding like his own Dad, just to mess with people, so...who knows?
EDIT: Then of course, there's the fact that he and Sean could be sick to death of people constantly badgering them about it.
EDIT2: Or, another possibility, they're not planning on doing anything with it because they already did everything on it, and therefore, there's nothing left to do. It'd be the perfect prank in that it's technically true, but it's worded in a misleading way.

I'm still under the impression that Sabat is just protecting their NDA's until an official announcement from Funimation. Remember that Schemmel wasn't the ONLY english voice actor to talk about working on the Buu arc of Kai, so I don't believe Schemmel was flat-out lying about the recording it (although he might have been off-base about almost finishing it way back then when the japanese production was still underway).DerekPadula wrote:Hi Everyone,
I have some exclusive news from Christopher Sabat regarding FUNimation's plans for the Majin Buu Arc.
He told me in a few emails this morning that FUNimation not only hasn't dubbed any of the episodes, they also have no current plans to do so.
This completely refutes Sean Schemmel's earlier statement in his interview in April 2013 that he was about to wrap up his work on the Arc.
This means we won't be getting the English dub for a while.

Ok just saving Vortexx and Nicktoons. These guys are the only ones airing anime at kids right now.

This. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, but Sabat's announcement strikes me as an effort to protect an NDA.xXInfinite026Xx wrote:I'm still under the impression that Sabat is just protecting their NDA's until an official announcement from Funimation. A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Pleased to see Kai return. I'm glad that it will now be a complete piece of work rather than something that got stopped before the end of the series. I do enjoy Kai, and the script for the Funimation Dub was certainly a lot better.
Interesting comments from Chris Sabat, considering Seans comments in the past. It's probably inevitable that there will be a dub anyway in future, so nothing to worry about.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
It seems to be the general consensus that either Chris or Sean are lying. All I can do is report what I've been told by the man himself, and if it turns out to not be true, then shame on them.
If it matters, I did email Sean this morning as well, but he didn't write back. Possible NDA prohibition there?
We'll have to wait and see what tricks FUNimation has up their sleeves in the year to come.

I don't personally blame Sabat if he's not telling the truth about the situation. It's part of the business he's in to damage control and deny any claims of working on anything that gets leaked before an official announcement. Especially when these kinds of questions get asked from bloggers, they tend to spread like a wildfire over the interwebs. I'm sure to protect his own job, he needs to deny anything related to the show until it's official (even if that means not telling the truth).DerekPadula wrote:It seems to be the general consensus that either Chris or Sean are lying. Re: Buu Saga Kai
It could be that they've done it, but having being held up by Toei's own release plan, they chose to go with releasing the Season Sets, and plan to sit on Kai until that release has seen its end as not to undermine it.
After all, product over saturation contributed to the failure of the level sets. To release Kai now, or even to just announce it, would be to essentially compete for the (already nice) market against their own product.

No, you're wrong. That's just a retraced shot. Also in Freeza Arc when Krillin got the power they completely re-animated it. Once he Krillin got excited. Then back to the old animation.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
I was content with Kai's Saiyan arc through Freeza's arc (Parts 1-4 on BD only) but afterwards it went downhill (I'd have forgiven it had it kept Yamamoto's score) and it's hard to be excited for Kai considering I've been more disappointed with it than pleased.RocktheDragon wrote:Of course people will be excited for the continuation/finish of Kai! I don't see how you could not be even a bit enthused with this upcoming release. And I'm guessing you had problems with the original release of Kai too then, right? I don't see it as "milking" the series by merely finishing the manga content, which Kai was originally supposed to cover in full (and which it now finally is!).
I'm much more hopeful and positive then you are in your assessment and I just know this will go over well for both my wife and I.
For me this time around it'll be more importantly how the picture quality looks (I'm guessing DBOXZ somewhat remastered) like in HD and the soundtrack (sure am glad for a new score), if both are A-OK then I'll get it on BD if not then DVD (unless they cost the same price).
Eh, damn April 2014 that's when I've gotta upgrade to Windows 7 'cause Windows XP will be discontinued officially but on the plus side Majin Boo arc of Kai is commencing. Mixed bag this month will be.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

Oh definitely, and I don't blame you for passing on what they said, nor do I blame any of them if they choose to deny it. From what I've heard, FUNimation is extremely protective of their properties, and I'm sure that has proven useful on multiple occasions when they've tried to license anime...more specifically, that they can talk to the original animation studios and be like, "See? Your baby's safe with us, look how well we protected all the other stuff we have."DerekPadula wrote:It seems to be the general consensus that either Chris or Sean are lying. There's an extra scene with Cell turning Perfect. Unless the Eng Dub edited out?
Re: Buu Saga Kai
It wasn't edited out. That scene is at the very end of episode 159. What you linked was just the portion that came from 160.
Re: Buu Saga Kai
That scene does exist in Z. Check out the end of episode 159. Also, as for the Krillin shot, it's just a retraced shot with a simpler background.TheGmGoken wrote:Really? I could had swore that Krillin got re-animated. About the Cell turning perfect thing. This wasn't an extra scene?

I don't think Sabat's lying. If they are actually dubbing it, wouldn't it have been better for Sabat to say nothing and wait until they could actually announce than to flat out lie and say it's not happening? If it turns out he's lying, wouldn't that damage trust with him and the fans (not to mention his reputation)?
I don't know, guy. I'm afraid that he may be telling the truth.

Oh you're right. Thanks for the information. I wonder how good the quality will be. Saiyan - Freeza arc looked great and Cell Arc looked just like Z's. So i wonder if this might be a balance?kei17 wrote:That scene does exist in Z. Check out the end of episode 159. Despite being told repeatedly how this viewpoint makes absolutely zero sense - with visual evidence to the contrary to back up this counterclaim against you - I continue to see you repeating this ad nauseam. There is zero discernible difference in the remastering and raw visual quality between the Saiyan/Freeza and the Cell arc of the series. Why do you insist that there is? Are you, at this point, just being stubborn about being proven wrong and clinging to your prior statement?

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Man, maybe I am. Sorry about that, if so! The point remains, though, right? Totally in disbelief over this viewpoint.
Show me the evidence that the Cell arc was somehow lower-quality in terms of its visual remastering than the prior episodes, and I'm all for accepting said viewpoint. That being said... no-one seems to be able to do so.
